  • Publication number: 20100313495
Abstract: A mast assembly having a base, and a mast pivotally connected to the base for movement between a horizontal and an upright position. A linear actuator is connected between the base and the mast and is extensible to move mast about the pivot. A strut is selectively positioned between the mast and the base to inhibit pivotal movement toward the horizontal position during lifting of the mast. A plurality of abutments on the base permits selective connection between the actuator and the base. The strut position supports the mast while said actuator is moved between the abutments.

  • Publication number: 20100314875
Abstract: A system for controlling the RPM of a wind turbine comprising using inverters to draw current from the wind turbine, thereby slowing the rotational speed of the wind turbine blades. In another aspect, a resistor and a switching mechanism attached between the resistor and a phase line is provided to increase the load on the phase line. A yaw motor is also used to yaw the facing direction of the wind turbine out of the wind. Moreover, a normally closed switching mechanism can redirect current from a phase line through a resistor. A normally closed brake is also used to mechanically engage the turbine when the control system fails. A normally open yawing clutch when disengaged allows the nacelle of the wind turbine to rotate freely into the down wind direction. The system also comprises a switch that can create an electrical short between the phase lines of the turbine.

  • Patent number: 7776002
Abstract: An ophthalmic implant for treating or alleviating the symptoms of glaucoma having a plate shaped to fit the surface of an eye. The plate has an inner ridge that defines a primary drainage region. Intraocular pressure is reduced by the transfer of aqueous fluid from the interior of the eyeball through a tube to the primary drainage region. To minimize post-operative hypotony, a secondary drainage region is provided on the plate outside the primary drainage region and defined either by the outer edge of the plate or an outer ridge having a lower profile than the inner ridge. When the pressure of fluid in the primary drainage region builds, fluid spills into the secondary drainage region. Fluid that is transferred to the plate is absorbed in surrounding tissues.

  • Patent number: 7692406
Abstract: A circuit is provided for controlling a battery-charger device with a closed-loop architecture. The circuit includes sensing means for sensing an operative quantity of the device, control means, and driving means. The control means alternately controls the sensing means to track the operative quantity during a tracking phase and to hold the operative quantity during a holding phase. The driving means provides a regulation signal that regulates the operative quantity based on a comparison between the operative quantity sensed by the sensing means and a reference value. The control means causes the driving means to hold the regulation signal during at least part of each of the holding phases. Also provided is a method of controlling a battery-charger device with a closed-loop architecture.

  • Patent number: 7383714
Abstract: A crimp machine includes a linear mover that forces a ram plate assembly toward a base plate to radially contract an insert. The insert has an inner surface defining an interior dimension that mates with a fitting and crimps the fitting onto a flexible hose as the insert is radially contracted. To adjust for fittings of differing dimensions, a plurality of inserts of varying inside dimensions may be used. To make the crimp machine adjustable for a wide range of fitting dimensions, a plurality of adapter rings of differing inner diameters may be employed. Each adapter ring is removably interposed within a base plate aperture and has a differing inner surface for mating with an insert of desired proportions.

  • Publication number: 20050018685
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to techniques for merging multiple data flows in a Passive Optical Network (PON). The PON comprises an interface module and a plurality of network nodes connected to the interface module via an optical fiber link. Each of the network nodes further serves client devices. The client devices request multiple data flows, requiring the interface module to serve multiple data flows to a network node for delivery to the devices. The interface module merges received data flows to permit multiple flows to be processed by a single segmentation and reassembly (SAR) engine, reducing hardware cost and complexity within the node. However, subunits associated with different data flows within a merged data flow are not interleaved with one another. Instead, the subunits associated with an original unit of information are transmitted contiguously within the merged data flow, facilitating identification and reassembly of the subunits for a particular microflow.

  • Patent number: 6404372
Abstract: An A/D converter has been described that compares the bounds of a voltage window with an analog input signal Vin. When Vin is not within the boundaries of the voltage window, the position of the voltage window is moved either upwards or downwards depending on the disposition of the analog input signal. The position of the voltage window is sequentially moved until either the analog signal Vin is within the bounds of the window or the absolute upper or lower position limits are reached.
