  • Publication number: 20060203804
Abstract: A mobile routing device communicates over multiple wireless networks with a Host Network Server residing on a Local Area Network. The mobile routing device also communicates with at least one client device. The mobile routing device includes multiple router network adapters, each interfacing with one of the wireless networks to send and receive data from the wireless network. Each router network adapter having a gateway address, associated with the wireless network, that the Host Network Server uses to send data to the mobile routing device. The mobile routing device also includes at least one client router network adapter that interfaces with the at least one client device. Each client router network adapter is associated with an end point address that each Host Application uses to send data to the client device. Data is sent to the client device via the Host Network Server, via at least one of the wireless networks, and via the mobile routing device, using only the end point address.

  • Publication number: 20060146825
Abstract: A quality of service routing method operates within a system including multiple parallel dissimilar wireless networks connecting a client device and a host device. The method includes selecting one of the networks based upon criteria, including priority, of a packet received from a source application. The method also includes routing the packet between the client device and the host device across the selected network, the source application being unaware of the network selected for the packet.

  • Publication number: 20060083240
Abstract: A method is provided for broadcasting a packet over multiple dissimilar wireless networks, at least one of the networks natively supporting broadcasting and at least one of the networks not natively supporting broadcasting. The method includes determining whether the packet is to be broadcast; and when the packet should be broadcast, determining recipients of the packet. A current network over which the packet will be broadcast is then selected based upon the determined recipients. Subsequently, it is determined whether the current network supports broadcasting. When the current network does not natively support broadcasting, the packet is individually sent to each recipient over the current network. When the current network does natively support broadcasting, the packet is broadcasted to the recipients over the current network.

  • Publication number: 20060046716
Abstract: A method is provided for seamless roaming over multiple dissimilar wireless networks leveraging a set of one or more SDRs, and possibly some traditional radio communication devices. The method includes determining whether alternate networks are available regardless of whether the SDR has only a single transmitter and receiver or multiple transmitters and receivers. In addition, if the SDR provides multiple transmitters and receivers, or if multiple distinct SDRs are available to the mobile computing device, the method will be able to better optimize the seamless roaming experience for the user while still utilizing the set of SDRs, in part, to determine whether alternate networks are available. The method further includes managing the transitions of an SDR between various modulation algorithms according to a variety of states and settings of the SDR or of the set of SDRs as a whole.

  • Publication number: 20060023676
Abstract: A method routes data over multiple routes, including wireless networks, the data being received from multiple applications. The method includes ascertaining availability of the multiple routes, receiving data from a selected application of the applications, determining a designated route that is associated with the selected application, and sending the received data over the designated route when the designated route has been ascertained to be available. Moreover, a system routes data over multiple wireless networks. The data is sent from multiple applications each having a unique source port number. The system includes a mobile router that receives data from a selected a mobile router that receives data from a selected application. The mobile router includes a port routing table containing information that specifies, based on one or more characteristics of the data, over which wireless network the data should be routed. The characteristics of the data include a port number, IP address or protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050243857
Abstract: A method manages the flow of packetized data over multiple dissimilar wireless networks. The method includes assigning a weight to each of the wireless networks, and allocating a portion of the packetized data to each network based upon the assigned network weights. Finally, the allocated data is simultaneously sent across the corresponding wireless networks.
