  • Patent number: 6873258
Abstract: Entity identity information and location identity information are sensed and made available to subscriber applications through a secure location-aware services infrastructure, thereby allowing for the creation of location-based services. Information detected by a sensor is passed to an interface aggregator for conversion to a standardized format and then forwarded to location registers for the domain of the sensors. Subscriber applications query the registers to determine which entities are in a particular location and to determine the location of entities. By unifying diverse sensing technologies, location information can be simultaneously obtained on varying degrees of granularity. In addition, the system is scalable to large scenarios by using a plurality of sensors, interface aggregators, and registers.

  • Publication number: 20040049714
Abstract: Errant conditions, including configuration issues, device/application failures, and performance problems, affecting a home network are detected by considering end-to-end information flows within the home network and between the home network and an external network. Specifically, errant conditions are detected by analyzing monitored network information flows, by analyzing responses resulting from the active stimuli of hardware/software components within the home and external network, and by considering in this analysis configuration information obtained from network devices. Gathered information and detected errant conditions are reported to an administrative management system for further analysis and for use by a help-desk administrator or home user in resolving the reported conditions.

  • Patent number: 5982241
Abstract: A monolithic oscillator having dual programmable fixed frequency outputs includes crystal-less oscillator circuitry utilizing frequency-locked feedback to generate ai signal having a select frequency, the frequency being stabilized over temperature and voltage by compensation circuitry associated with the crystal-less oscillator circuitry. A programmable prescaler is coupled to the crystal-less oscillator circuitry for varying the frequency of the signal generated by the crystal-less oscillator circuitry by a select amount. The monolithic oscillator further includes inputs for receiving an external signal, such as an external reference signal, or for connection to a crystal for providing an alternative frequency reference. A multiplexer is used to select either the external signal (or crystal) or the signal from the crystal-less oscillator circuitry to be used for the output signal.
