  • Patent number: 6781084
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus and a method for brazing work pieces together and which eliminates the disadvantages associated with conventional apparatus currently in use for brazing parts together. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the brazing apparatus comprises an electric connector for connecting to an electrical power source; at least two electrodes adapted for attaching to and providing electrical contact with the work pieces to be brazed together; means for converting the electric power being directed from the electrical power source into a low voltage, high current electric flow directed to the work pieces; and a control system for controlling the brazing operation. The brazing apparatus further comprises means for automatically controlling the time duration of the brazing operation and means for monitoring and automatically controlling the brazing temperature being generated along the interface between the work pieces.

  • Patent number: 6473655
Abstract: A data processing system and method are described for creating a virtual partition within an existing partition within a hard disk drive included within the system. A first master boot record is written which includes a partition. The partition defines a first file system to be utilized by the hard drive. A file is created within the partition. The first master boot record is temporarily overwritten with a second master boot record without altering the first file system. The second master boot record includes a designation of the file as a second partition. The second partition defines a second file system. The second partition is designated as the active partition. The data processing system is booted utilizing the second master boot record. The second partition is a virtual partition within the existing partition.

  • Patent number: 6282642
Abstract: Described is a computer system which can be pre-set over a network to boot to a first or second remote boot protocol prior to being powered on over the network. The system is coupled to a remote computer via a data communication link. The system includes a communication subsystem for communicating data with the computer system. The communication subsystem is supplied with auxiliary power and is operative to communicate with the computer system regardless of whether the computer system is in a normal operating state. The remote computer includes a program for sending a first packet to the computer system via the communication link. The first packet contains a boot parameter which is indicative of the first or second remote boot protocol. The computer system is operative to receive the first packet via the communication subsystem and store the boot parameter in a memory thereof without powering on.
