  • Publication number: 20230363990
Abstract: Zinc oxide particles are prepared as a dry powder through a vapor phase formed by a plasma process, or by introducing defects into stoichiometric zinc oxide particles in a liquid carrier through mechanical stress. The zinc oxide has an O:Zn ratio of at least 0.99, an average particle size of 10 to 300 nm, and a sufficient concentration of oxygen vacancies and zinc vacancies to give a dispersion of the particles in C12-C15 alkyl benzoate an orange to tan color corresponding to a ?E value of at least 15 in a Dispersion Color Test.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 24, 2023
    Publication date: November 16, 2023
Inventors: Harry W. Sarkas, Christopher C Boffa

The particles contain no aggregates and have no detectable particles 500 nm or larger, on a number-weighted basis.

  • Publication number: 20220073685
Abstract: A composition comprises phenolic polymer particles and a surfactant, on the phenolic polymer particles. The composition is lipophilic. A dispersion comprises the phenolic polymer particles, the surfactant, and a carrier vehicle. The carrier vehicle may be a cosmetically-acceptable fluid or a wax that is lipophilic.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 21, 2021
    Publication date: March 10, 2022
Inventors: Harry W. Sarkas, Christopher C. Boffa, Kevin Cureton
  • Publication number: 20220016003
Abstract: A composition includes polyphenolic particles and a surfactant, on the polyphenolic particles. The composition is lipophilic. The polyphenolic particles are non-pigmentary. A dispersion includes the polyphenolic particles, the surfactant, and a carrier vehicle. The carrier vehicle may be a cosmetically-acceptable fluid or a wax that is lipophilic.
