    Abstract: The present invention provides a durable, launderable hydroentangled composite that is highly suitable for skin-contacting uses. The composite is a hydrogentangled composite which is pattern bonded. The composite contains two filamentous web layers containing crimped continuous filaments and a cellulosic layer containing cellulosic fibers, and the cellulosic layer is disposed between the filamentous web layers. The composite fabric is launderable as demonstrated by the fact that the composite loses less than about 2% of its opacity, based on the initial opacity of the composite, when subjected to one laundering cycle in accordance with the ASTM 2724-87 washing and drying procedure. Additionally provided is a process for producing the composite.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a lightweight nonwoven laminate particularly useful as a component of personal care articles, for example as a barrier cuff material for disposable diapers. Components of the laminate include at least one fine fiber layer having a basis weight in the range of from about 1.5 gsm to 26 gsm and at least one continuous filament layer having a basis weight in the range of from about 10 gsm to 30 gsm. The fine fiber component comprises at least a ratio of 5% and the layers are intermittently bonded for a total basis weight up to about 55 gsm. Desirable softness, breathability and barrier properties are obtained.

    Abstract: Melt-spun filaments having a highly crimped configuration which is imparted by differential cooling, nonwoven webs of the crimped melt-spun filaments, and a process of forming a nonwoven web of the crimped filaments are disclosed. The filaments are formed from a random copolymer of propylene and ethylene or an alpha-olefin co-monomer having at least 4 carbon atoms which provides an enhanced response to filament crimping by differential cooling. The random copolymer may contain from about 0.5 to about 10 percent, by weight, of ethylene or an alpha-olefin co-monomer having at least 4 carbon atoms; and from about 99.5 to about 90 percent, by weight, propylene. The alpha-olefin co-monomer having at least 4 carbon atoms may be 1-butene, 4-methyl-1-pentene, 1-hexene, or 1-octene.
