Publication number: 20240254805Abstract: A door latching mechanism operably carried on a cargo door. The latching mechanism operates a lock assembly between a locked condition and an unlocked condition. The door latching mechanism includes a base mounted to an exterior side of the door. The door latching mechanism further includes a manually operated handle movable about a first axis, with the handle being operably connected to and moves the lock assembly between conditions. To facilitate one-handed operation of the door latching mechanism, a lock actuator is carried by the handle. The lock actuator and the base define cooperating instrumentalities for releasably securing the handle in a first position, wherein the cooperating instrumentalities engage to inhibit rotation of the handle and thereby the lock assembly toward an unlocked condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2024Publication date: August 1, 2024Inventors: Richard M. CHARNEY, Christopher C. GAYDOS, Joseph CENTENO

Patent number: 10562546Abstract: A mechanism for operating a discharge gate assembly mounted on a railcar. The gate assembly includes a frame defining a discharge opening, a door slidably positioned on the frame for a generally horizontal range of movements between a closed position and an open position. An operating shaft assembly is mounted on the frame for rotation about a fixed axis and is operably coupled to the door such that the door moves in response to rotation of the operating shaft assembly. The mechanism for operating the discharge gate assembly includes a mount carried by and with the railcar and an actuator carried by the mount outside a range of travel of the slidable door. A force transfer mechanism is operated by the actuator for rotating the operating shaft assembly to slidably move the door between the closed and open positions in response to operation of the actuator.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2017Date of Patent: February 18, 2020Assignees: MINER ENTERPRISES, INC., POWERBRACE CORPORATIONInventors: John E.
