  • Patent number: 10714301
Abstract: Provided herein are approaches for reducing particles in an ion implanter. An electrostatic filter may include a housing and a plurality of conductive beam optics within the housing. The conductive beam optics are arranged around an ion beam-line directed towards a wafer, and may include entrance aperture electrodes proximate an entrance aperture of the housing. The conductive beam optics may further include energetic electrodes downstream along the ion beam-line from the entrance aperture electrodes, and ground electrodes downstream from the energetic electrodes. The energetic electrodes are positioned farther away from the ion beam-line than the entrance electrodes and the ground electrodes, thus causing the energetic electrodes to be physically blocked from impact by an envelope of back-sputter material returning from the wafer. The electrostatic filter may further include an electrical system for independently delivering a voltage and a current to each of the conductive beam optics.

  • Patent number: 10695985
Abstract: A method for inserting an insert into a hole in a composite material made from a plurality of carbon fiber layers suspended in a resin material includes lowering a temperature of the insert to a reduced temperature at which a coefficient of thermal expansion of a material of the insert causes the insert to contract to a first perimeter, inserting the insert at the reduced temperature into the hole, and permitting the temperature of the insert to increase from the reduced temperature to an operational temperature. At the operational temperature, the insert expands to a second perimeter so that the insert is retained within the composite material due to an interference between the insert and the composite material. The interference transfers a structural load from the insert to the composite material and results in damage to the composite material if the insert is dislodged at the operational temperature.

  • Patent number: 10688948
Abstract: A bumper assembly is provided having a flange that overlies the body of the vehicle. The flange may be a body flange extending from an elongate bumper beam or a cladding flange extending from an external cladding that covers at least a portion of the bumper beam. The flange may protect the body from wear or corrosion, and/or bridge a gap between the frame and the body of the vehicle. The assembly may also include a contact structure for contacting at least a portion of the vehicle frame, such as the hitch beam. The contact structure may resist rotation of the bumper assembly, prevent vibration of the bumper assembly against the frame, and/or support a vertical load on the bumper. In some embodiments, the assembly may be primarily mounted to the body of the vehicle, such that the bumper beam “hangs” from the body of the vehicle.
