  • Publication number: 20240145652
Abstract: Light-emitting devices including solid-state light-emitting devices, light-emitting diode (LED) devices, and LED packages with support elements for improved near-field and far-field emissions are disclosed. LED chips may be mounted to support elements in a manner that directs light through the support elements in desired emission directions. Support elements include optical structures that spread and mix light laterally within the support element. Optical structures include various light-altering layers, such as light-diffusing layers or light-reflective layers, that are arranged to effectively increase internal reflections for lateral spreading of light. Patterned arrangements of light-altering layers include portions that mask direct emissions for LED chips, thereby redistributing emissions laterally to increase near-field and/or far-field uniformity across an increased portion of emitting surfaces.

  • Patent number: 10787766
Abstract: In alternative embodiments, provided are methods and industrial processes for generating pulp from lignocellulosic feedstocks, comprising directly contacting a lignocellulosic feedstock with a system comprising a super critical or sub-super critical fluid or mixture of fluids, whereby the partial pressure of the system provides for the hydrolysis or a combination thereof of the feedstock at reduced temperatures and pressures, followed by an upgrading step wherein a low-purity cellulosic material generated in the super critical or sub-super critical reaction step is treated with an alkaline solution. In alternative embodiments, provided are systems and methods for producing a cellulose material using reduced amounts of water.

  • Publication number: 20190315644
Abstract: In alternative embodiments, provided are methods and industrial processes for treating radium-containing oil well flow-back to produce a completely or substantially radium-free water stream product. In alternative embodiments, provided are methods and industrial processes comprising contacting an oil well flow-back with an ion exchange compound to completely or substantially remove radium from the effluent water stream, thereby producing a completely or substantially radium-free effluent, or product. In alternative embodiments, methods provided herein remove the radium present in radium-containing fluids, and the resultant effluents can be removed and stabilized. In alternative embodiments, methods and systems are provided herein are applicable to the treatment of effluents from the hydraulic fracturing of oil and gas formations.
