  • Patent number: 10768103
Abstract: A method of mapping a tissue characteristic in a tissue sample comprises gathering infrared absorption data from the sample at selected wavelengths, and determining, from the infrared absorption data, a first measure of the amount of power or energy absorbed attributable to an amide moiety and a second measure of the amount of power or energy absorbed attributable to a phosphate moiety. A ratio of the first measure and the second measure is used to establish a histological index. The histological index may be used to indicate a malignancy grade of tumour in the tissue.

  • Patent number: 10541854
Abstract: Provided herein are systems, methods, and software for implementing information management applications. In an implementation, an application embodied in program instructions stored on one or more computer readable storage media comprises components and a control component. The components communicate requests to invoke others of the components. The control component handles the requests by at least determining whether or not any component identified by the requests has already been downloaded or is yet to be downloaded. The control component invokes the component when already downloaded and retrieves the component when not yet downloaded.

  • Publication number: 20090077924
Abstract: Methods for manufacturing an engineered wood product are disclosed. The method may include applying at least one preservative on the plurality of wood pieces; applying at least one resin on the plurality of wood pieces, wherein at least one of applying at least one preservative and applying at least one resin is configured to prevent interference among the at least one preservative and the at least one resin; forming a blanket of wood pieces from the plurality of wood pieces; and curing the at least one resin.

  • Publication number: 20070214599
Abstract: An attachment (10) for an inlet pipe (14) to a wet scrubber or other device comprises a sleeve (16) having an open end (18) adapted to be detachably connected to a flanged end (12) of the inlet pipe (14). A shaft (30) is moveable within the sleeve (16), and a scraper (34) is attached to one end of the shaft (30). The shaft (30) forms part of a pneumatic cylinder (40) attached to the other end of the sleeve (16). In use, the shaft (30) is reciprocally moved to cause the scraper (34) to dislodge particulates deposited within the pipe (14). Heated gas such as nitrogen or dry air is injected into the sleeve (16) to prevent scrubbing liquid from condensing within the sleeve (16) and thus inhibit particulate deposition therein.

  • Publication number: 20070003703
Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for the application of a flowable composition to fiber webs or mats, particularly oriented fiber mats, that suppresses the disruption of the fibers within the fiber mat that may result from turbulent flow in and near the point at which the flowable composition contacts the fiber mat. The apparatus includes a conveyor configured to pass through and be supported by a flood pan that allows the flowable composition to accumulate and move with the fiber mat in a machine direction in order to submerge or saturate the fiber mat as it passes through the flood pan. The apparatus also includes a recess provided in the flood pan substantially below an impact zone for redirecting the flowable composition while suppressing turbulent flow and counter-current flow within the flowable composition.

  • Publication number: 20050214519
Abstract: A process for forming muffler preforms using sugar as a binder is provided. Continuous glass strands and sugar are added to a preform mold which has the general shape and approximate volume of the internal cavity of the muffler in which the muffler preform is to be inserted. The sugar may be a sugar that has a melting point of 130° F. or greater. The continuous glass strands may be fed into the preform mold by a feeder that separates the strands and entangles the individual fibers. The preform mold is heated to a temperature sufficient to melt or at least partially caramelize the sugar. Once melted, the sugar adheres to the individual glass fibers, causing the individual glass fibers to stick together. The preform mold may be cooled to bind the sugar-coated glass fibers and form a muffler preform formed of continuous glass fibers bound together by sugar.

  • Patent number: 6550107
Abstract: A distributor layer moving in a reciprocating motion to deposit a web coming from a card, on an output apron to form thereon a lap designed for subsequent mechanical bonding. A front conveyor belt transporting the web up to a folding carriage and a rear conveyor belt for supporting the other surface of the web up to a depositor carriage are driven so as to have identical moving speeds in a pinching zone. In the folding carriage the web is deviated by less than 90 degrees to move in a down slope along a section, then a turning of more than 90 degrees, is first exposed, then is externally supported by a support structure. The pinching zone slopes slightly downwards. The web is likewise exposed for the turning in the folding carriage then with external support by an arrangement in a second angular surface.
