  • Patent number: 12286853
Abstract: A system including an instrumented sub for supporting subterranean operations, the instrumented sub can include an upper and lower portion with a flow passage extending therethrough, and a valve that selectively permits or restricts fluid flow through the flow passage, and a rotary interface coupled to the upper portion and including a rotary portion and a stationary portion, where the rotary portion is rotationally fixed to the upper portion and rotates with the upper portion, where the stationary portion is rotationally coupled to the rotary portion, and where the rotary interface transfers communication signals between the stationary portion and the rotary portion to transmit commands or data to or receive the commands or data from one or more components of the instrumented sub. Can also include a method of using the instrumented sub to determine a vertical position or movement of a top drive.

  • Publication number: 20240280015
Abstract: A system including a logging tool that comprises a pulser, and a sensor assembly removably attached the pulser while the logging tool is outside of a wellbore, where the logging tool operates the pulser and causes change of a detectable object in the pulser, wherein the sensor assembly detects change of the detectable object and transmits a signal to a data acquisition computer that is representative of the detected change. A method including operations of removably attaching a sensor assembly to a body of a pulser of a logging tool, detecting operation of the pulser via the sensor assembly, and emulating pressure pulses from the pulser by converting, via the sensor assembly, the detected pulser operation into synthetic pressure pulses.

  • Publication number: 20240200437
Abstract: An instrumented sub is provided that can include an upper portion and a lower portion of a body, the body having a flow passage extending through the upper portion and the lower portion, and an instrumented clamp that can be removably attached to the body between the upper portion and the lower portion, where the instrumented clamp can be electrically coupled to the body via a first electrical coupling of the instrumented clamp being mated to a second electrical coupling mounted to the body. A method is also provided for attaching an instrumented clamp to a body before or after the body is coupled to the top drive, transmitting signals between the instrumented clamp and a rig controller; and removing the instrumented clamp from the body while the body remains coupled to the top drive.

  • Patent number: 9004470
Abstract: A shock absorber includes an elastomeric jounce bumper which engages a jounce bumper cap during relatively large compression movements of the shock absorber. The jounce bumper cap includes a jounce bumper nose retaining feature which engages the nose of the jounce bumper during the compression movements. The jounce bumper nose retaining feature restricts sliding movement of the elastomeric jounce bumper with respect to the jounce bumper cap to eliminate noises associated with the relative movement.

  • Publication number: 20130254213
Abstract: Techniques for analyzing a social graph of a social network service to identify and then present connection paths connecting various entities are described. With some embodiments, subsequent to a user selecting or otherwise identifying two entities represented as nodes in a social graph, the social graph is analyzed to identify connection paths connecting the nodes representing the two entities. The social graph is implemented with a graph data structure having nodes and edges representing entities and associations between entities, respectively. With some embodiments, the nodes represent people, companies, educational institutions (e.g., schools, universities, etc.), and groups. After identifying the connection paths, the connection path or paths having the highest path scores, as derived by aggregating edge scores assigned to the edges, may be presented.

  • Patent number: 8434772
Abstract: A strut assembly includes an upper mount assembly, a shock absorber and a knuckle. The upper mount assembly is attached to a piston rod which is a part of the shock absorber. The knuckle is attached to an outer tube of the shock absorber which can be a reserve tube of a dual-tube shock absorber or a pressure tube of a single tube shock absorber. A reinforcement member increases the strength of the outer tube in the area that interfaces with the knuckle and the area that is directly above the knuckle.
