  • Patent number: 5584600
Abstract: A ground cover for controlling soil erosion and retarding vegetation growth on sloped ground includes a plurality of spaced apart water control baffles and a series of thin, sheet-like membranes between pairs of the water control baffles. The ground cover is secured to the ground by a plurality of ground engaging fasteners. The water control baffles preferably include a vertical leg having a plurality of apertures therethrough, and a ground engaging leg, which is substantially horizontal to the ground, for receiving the ground engaging fasteners. The membranes allow water to flow through the membrane while preventing erosion of the soil underneath the membrane.

  • Patent number: 5209051
Abstract: A rotary lawn mower adapted to be moved over a surface to mow vegetation; said lawn mower includes a mower deck, a motor, rotary cutting means and a push handle assembly; said mower deck including a top portion adapted to support said motor and downwardly extending edge portions; said motor being affixed to the central portion of said mower deck and coupled to drive said rotary cutter means positioned underneath said mower deck substantially parallel to said surface, said push handle assembly having telescoping or pivotal members and being pivotally attached to the deck such that the push handles may be folded over said motor and attached to said mower deck forward of the motor thus permitting a user of said mower to selectively grasp said push handle assembly to lift and move said rotary mower from one location to another.

  • Patent number: 5139076
Abstract: An improved window screen in which each strand of the screen is substantially totally transparent is disclosed. In all cases the screen comprises a plurality of optically transparent strands with selected strands intersecting at an angle to form the screen. The strands may be woven or the strands may be bonded at their intersections to form the screen. Light passes through the strands in a distortion free manner. The strands of the screen may either be conventional optical fibers or merely of transparent plastic.
