  • Patent number: 6962266
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing a unit dose product (11) from a unit dose package (10) is disclosed. The unit dose package (10) includes a first continuous strip (12) operatively connected to a second continuous strip (13) so as to provide individual segments (17) containing the unit dose of product (11). The unit dose of product (11) is dispensed by suitable method which separates the strips (12, 13) and dispensing the unit dose of product (11).

  • Patent number: 6895797
Abstract: A punch assembly for punching or forming sheet metal has a circumferentially extending, horizontally disposed supporting flange that is slideably mounted upon the body of the punch assembly as a part thereof for supporting the punch assembly on a punch press. A resilient tool retractor, e.g., one or more springs is provided within the punch assembly for retracting or elevating the body of punch assembly relative to the supporting flange. Provision is also made for enabling a person to manually change the tool length and thus the feed gap from the exterior of the punch assembly by controlling the distance that the upper forming tool, i.e., the punch extends downwardly below the supporting flange and a lock is provided for securely retaining it in a selected position.

  • Publication number: 20040011156
Abstract: A steering wheel comprising: a rim (24) and a hub member (22) and a plurality of spokes (26a-d) interconnecting the rim and hub member configured to have a first polar moment of inertia; the rim including a hollow space (43) and an insert (50) received within the hollow space, the rim and the insert configured to raise the effective polar moment of inertia of the steering wheel from the first polar moment to a level to reduce any shimmy of the steering wheel.

  • Patent number: 6363984
Abstract: A tire tread having design cycles or pitches in which the circumferential lengths of repeated pitches are randomly modulated in certain selected sequences to reduce the amount of noise generated by the tire tread when the tire rolls on a road surface. The pitch sequences include three different circumferential pitch lengths including a group having a largest number of medium length (M) pitches, a smallest number of shortest length pitches (S) and a medium number of longest length (L) pitches. In one embodiment, the ratio of the three different pitches are 0.8 for the smallest length pitch (S), 1 for the medium length pitch (M) and 1.2 for the longest length pitch (L). 100 pitch sequences are proposed with the sequence L M S M S L M L M L M L M L M M L M L M L M L M L M being the preferred sequence which provides the most noise reduction. Ninety nine other pitches are also within a range to provide an acceptable level of noise reduction in a tire tread.
