  • Patent number: 8595971
Abstract: A viscoelastic barrel dampener operable to increase the accuracy of a weapon having a shroud, the shroud defining a shroud wall and a chamber within the shroud wall, a barrel, the barrel disposed within the chamber of the shroud and defining a barrel wall having an outer surface, and a viscoelastic dampening material, the viscoelastic dampening material disposed within and substantially filling a volume defined by the outer surface of the barrel and the shroud wall, wherein the barrel further includes one or more contour features adapted to disrupt the axial propagation of acoustic energy along the barrel wall. In at least one embodiment, the one or more contour features may include a plurality of parallel barrel walls, radial grooves, or steps formed in the outer surface.

  • Patent number: 8312663
Abstract: A harmonic barrel dampener operable to increase the accuracy of a weapon having a barrel. According to at least one embodiment, a harmonic barrel dampener comprises an outer portion that substantially encases or enwraps a significant portion of barrel, and wherein the harmonic barrel dampener further comprises at least one acoustic dampening material contained between the outer portion and a weapon's barrel, resulting in improved accuracy of projectiles fired from the weapon.

  • Patent number: 8151507
Abstract: A firearm support apparatus operable to increase the accuracy of a weapon, comprising first and second vertical frame element 20 movably attached to swivel attachment 40 at one end, and movably attached to first and second horizontal frame element 25 by at least one tension spring 30. At the end opposite the at least one tension spring 30, first and second horizontal frame element 25 are optionally held together by a horizontal tension spring 35. It will be appreciated that the first and second vertical frame element 20 and first and second horizontal frame element 25 may be arranged such that they form two nearly triangular supports, allowing for a firearm to be suspended from the apex of one such triangle, and wherein the at least one tension springs are sized and selected to reduce the weight of the firearm suspended therefrom, allowing full range of movement by a shooter.

  • Patent number: 8140352
Abstract: Order sets are presented in different views thereby allowing the doctor to treat a patient in a more intuitive manner. Order set content is created so that order sets can be viewed from varying perspectives. An order set library is modified such that each order statement or orderable is tagged with metadata. Each orderable is tagged with an Intervention tag, a Problem tag, and a System tag. An application may then take the modified order sets and present them to doctors based on an Intervention view, a Problem view, or a System view. These views give the doctor the option of switching between views depending on the severity of a patient's medical condition and allows the doctor to follow a more intuitive and internal mental process when treating a patient. The doctor does not have to translate between different perspectives of the order sets mentally, thereby greatly reducing the doctor's cognitive load.

  • Publication number: 20100250282
Abstract: Custom Order Sets for use by doctors and clinicians allow the user to utilize Order Sets and Orderables in clinical encounters. Closed-loop processes and systems for creating a Custom Order Set and using the Order Set to get feedback from Physicians and make modifications to Orderables and Order Sets used in a hospital are described. A Physician can create her own Order Sets and submit them to the hospital for approval. If approved, they can be included in the hospital's Order Sets Library and used by other Physicians. A Physician can create a Framework of Order Sets. A Framework is intended to reflect how the Physician organizes clinical knowledge in her specialty and is intended to match the way the Physician thinks about a Clinical Encounter with a patient. The Physician selects Order Sets from categories within the Framework. These Order Sets are organized or blended together using a detailed process to form a Custom Order Set.
