Also disclosed is a network comprising a provisioning server configured to receive UE configuration and capability information, and subsequently provide an application based on the UE configuration and capability information. Also disclosed is a method comprising providing UE configuration and capability information from a UE, and receiving an application at the UE based on the configuration and capability information. Also disclosed is a method comprising receiving UE configuration and capability information at a provisioning server, and providing an application from the provisioning server based on the UE configuration and capability information.

Abstract: A device-based network service provisioning model is provided in which a wireless device facilitates a subscriber to provide provisioning information for activating carrier, value-added or other service provider services automatically. The model facilitates subscriber control while balancing service provider needs. Provisioning components may be provided to a device during a provisioning session to maintain service provider branding, look and feel and other control over a subscriber's experience. Provisioning components may be dynamically generated to capture current services, subscriber plans and particular device criteria. In one embodiment, service provider-side components define a service-oriented interface (e.g. Web services) for receiving a subscriber's provisioning information. Device-side components define an interface to request and receive the provisioning components and to provide provisioning information to the service-oriented interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for triggering a provisioning event in a service provider using a provisioning request message generated by an external system. A provisioning system may be used to receive the provisioning request message from the external system and transmit information in the provisioning request message to the service provider to trigger the provisioning event. The provisioning request message may have a data structure that includes a header section and a body section. The body section may contain a provisioning entity section that includes information identifying an entity to which the provisioning event pertains, wherein the provisioning entity section includes one or more attributes defined by the external system.

Abstract: Provided are methods and apparatus for managing software components on a device when transferring device management responsibilities for the device from a first device management server to a second device management server. The capability to change device management servers while coordinating changes to software components on a managed device may be referred to as application portability. A mobile device in the present disclosure may change device management providers while maintaining access to certain licensed applications managed by a device management server. In an embodiment, a proprietary software component may be removed and a replacement software component installed from a category of applications that comprises the removed proprietary software component and the installed replacement software component.
