  • Publication number: 20120088950
Abstract: Ways of applying microwaves to feedstock to be processed are disclosed. One embodiment relates to heating inter-layer water in vermiculite to expand the vermiculite. Another embodiment relates to heating water in oil-contaminated materials and waste products, such as drilling cuttings, contaminated soils and certain types of animal by-products, to drive out oil. In some embodiments a microwave tunnel applicator has the microwaves applied from beneath the feedstock.

  • Patent number: 8057112
Abstract: A multi-mount apparatus for devices such as camera heads or lights on the end of a crane arm is disclosed. The multi-mount can include two substantially parallel side plates connected together with internal support members. A top mounting plate can be rotatably attached to the multi-mount at a top pivot point on the side plates. The multi-mount contains a leveling head, which can include a motor that drives a worm gear engaged with a moon gear. A bottom mounting plate can be attached to the moon gear, which is rotatably attached to the multi-mount at a bottom pivot point on the side plates. A motor drives a moon gear to rotate and maintain the bottom mounting plate at a desired orientation. In some embodiments, one or more push/pull rods rotatably attached to the bottom and top mounting plates also cause the top mounting plate to be maintained at the same orientation as the bottom mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 7161937
Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one more embodiment of the invention, an integrated circuit includes: a switch adapted to receive a packet of binary digital signals as encoded binary digital signals including encoded binary digital signals used to route the packet through the network. The switch is further adapted to copy the encoded binary digital signals used to route the packet through the network, at least for decoding the encoded binary digital signals. Briefly, in accordance with yet another embodiment of the invention, an integrated circuit includes: a switch adapted to receive a packet of binary digital signals, the packet of binary digital signals including encoded binary digital signals specifying a route through a network without decoding.

  • Publication number: 20060005178
Abstract: A system optimizes two or more stream processing programs based upon the data exchanged between the stream processing programs. The system alternately processes each stream processing program to identify and remove dead program code, thereby improving execution performance. Dead program code is identified by propagating constants received as inputs from other stream processing programs and by analyzing a first stream processing program and determining the outputs of a second stream processing program that are unused by the first stream processing program. The system may perform multiple iterations of this optimization is previous iterations introduce additional constants used as inputs to a stream processing program. Following optimization of the stream processing programs, the optimized stream processing programs are compiled to a format adapted to be executed by a stream processing system.

  • Patent number: 5898692
Abstract: A scalable bandwidth switch is formed from a smart data crossbar and a plurality of simple data crossbars in parallel. A data block that is inputted into the switch contains a header portion and a payload portion. The data block is multiplexed so that the entire header portion is inputted to a port in the smart data crossbar. The smart data crossbar determines the destination of the data block from the header portion, and transmits this information on a control line. The payload portion is inputted to the port in the smart data crossbar, and ports in the plurality of simple crossbars depending on the bandwidth desired. The control line is coupled to the simple data crossbars and configures the simple data crossbars using the port destination information generated by the smart data crossbar.
