Abstract: A fastening device may include a hollow void. The hollow void may contain an inner coil proximate to a first end of the device, a sensing portion to sense a characteristic associated with the fastening device during a sensing time window, and a controller. The controller may rectify an alternating current from the inner coil during a charging time window, store energy associated with the rectified alternating current, and use the stored energy to charge the sensing portion during the sensing time window. An outer coil outside the fastening device may be located proximate to a second end of the device as compared to the inner coil. An interface portion outside the fastening device may provide an alternating current to the outer coil during the charging time window, detect the sensed characteristic via the outer coil during the sensing time window, and transmit an indication of the detected characteristic value.

  • Publication number: 20180000407
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the reduction of pressure ulcers and falls with respect to patients with physical or cognitive impairments who are in bed. A control system assures that the bed and ancillary apparatus are physically set and that patient behaviors are responded to by care providers. Motion is monitored with a non-mutually exclusive portfolio of sensors, and this information is used by one or more reasoning engines. An integrated clinical workflow is informed by the patterns of movement and then the physical environment, patient interaction, and care provider workflow are controlled to reduce the incidence of falls and pressure ulcers in bed ridden patients.

  • Publication number: 20170323231
Abstract: A method of generating a recommendation of terms of an aircraft services contract is disclosed. Operations data pertaining to a planned usage of each aircraft of a fleet of aircraft is received. The operations data pertains to the fleet of aircraft for which an aircraft services customer seeks to enter into a services contract with an aircraft services provider. The operations data includes flight schedule data and flight policy data specific to each of the aircraft. Historical data pertaining to actual usage of other fleets of aircraft with respect to the flight schedule data and the flight policy data is analyzed. The analyzing includes generating an estimation of a risk associated with the services contract from the perspective of the aircraft services provider. An acceptable price for the services contract is generated such that the risk is mitigated from the perspective of the services provider. The terms pertaining to the service contract are communicated for presentation in a user interface.

  • Publication number: 20170323274
Abstract: A method of providing a recommendation for optimizing operations of a set of industrial assets is disclosed. Digital twins of the set of industrial assets are generated. The digital twins include data structures representing states of each of a plurality of subsystems of the set of industrial assets over a time period. The states are estimated based on an application of simulations using cumulative damage models. The cumulative damage models model the effects of exogenous factors on the operation of the set of industrial assets over the time period. The digital twins are analyzed with respect to simulated operating performances to determine an optimized control of operations of the industrial assets. The optimized control of operations is calculated to jointly and severally to increase the specified operating performance criteria in time present and future of the industrial assets or decrease an economic risk associated with the operation of the industrial assets, within a specified probability.

  • Publication number: 20170323240
Abstract: A method of presenting a recommendation in a user interface for use in optimization operation of industrial assets. Digital twins are generated for a set of industrial assets. The digital twins include data structures representing estimated states of each of a plurality of subsystems of the set of industrial assets over a time period based on an application of simulations using cumulative damage models.
