Patent number: 9822818Abstract: A bearing assembly has an inner ring with an inner diameter configured to receive a shaft. The inner ring has axial slots and at least two radial holes. A collar configured to surround the inner ring is provided. The collar has two radial holes. Each of the collar radial holes is alignable with the at least two inner ring radial holes. Each of the collar radial holes is configured to threadably receive set screws extendable from the collar through the at least two radial holes of the inner ring to engage the shaft. The collar has a radial slot and is adjustable to compress the radial slot to tighten the collar around the inner ring and the inner ring around the shaft. In the alternative, the bearing assembly may be provided with two collars—one for a set screw only configuration and another for a concentric clamping only configuration.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2016Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Assignee: BALDOR ELECTRIC COMPANYInventors: William G. Patent number: 8408808Abstract: A retainer portion of a cage of a bearing has a plurality of spokes and web sections extending between an outer ring section and an inner ring section with a plurality of cavities formed on an annular side face of the retainer portion. The cavities communicate with socket portions formed in the retainer portion to provide lubrication to rotational elements of the bearing. A latch and catch mechanism secures like retainer portions together to form a cage of the bearing.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2009Date of Patent: April 2, 2013Assignee: Baldor Electric CompanyInventor: Christopher E. Patent number: 8157450Abstract: A bearing is disclosed. The bearing has an inner ring concentrically disposed with an outer ring with rotational elements therebetween adapted for allowing rotational movement of the inner ring relative to the outer ring. The outer ring has a crowned outer surface. A waveform expansion sleeve is disposed about the outer ring. The waveform expansion sleeve has a cylindrical outer surface dimensioned to be received in a bore of a bearing housing and an inner surface with a profile matching the outer ring outer surface. The waveform expansion sleeve has an undulating radial cross-section sufficient to exert radial pressure at its inner surface against the outer ring outer surface when mounted in the bore of the bearing housing to sufficiently secure the bearing in the housing. The expansion sleeve inner surface forms a seal with the outer ring outer surface when the bearing is installed in the bearing housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2008Date of Patent: April 17, 2012Assignee: Baldor Electric CompanyInventors: Christopher E.
