  • Patent number: 7931023
Abstract: A patient interface assembly adapted to be connected to a gas supply pump to deliver pressurized breathable gas to the inlet of a patient's respiratory system includes a patient interface structured to provide a seal with the patient and at least one inlet tube provided to the patient interface. Each inlet tube includes a substantially flat lower side wall to face the patient and a substantially arcuate upper side wall.

  • Patent number: 7302950
Abstract: A patient interface assembly adapted to be connected to a gas supply pump to deliver breathable gas to the inlet of a patient's respiratory system comprises a supply conduit, a patient interface, a branch swivel connector including a Y-piece and an elbow that swivels relative to the Y-piece, the branch swivel connector being adapted to be located to the rear of a patient's head in use and being connected to the supply conduit. A pair of inlet tubes each have a first end positioned in use near a mouth of a patient and are connected to the nose mask, a middle portion arranged to pass across a cheek of a patient and an end portion being joined to the Y-piece of the branch connector. The inlet tubes have a flat configuration and are provided with a plurality of internal ribs which prevent the tubes being crushed. A strap is secured to the patient interface and adapted to pass around the sides and rear of the head to hold the patient interface in position on the head.

  • Publication number: 20030154980
Abstract: The present invention discloses both a method of operating CPAP apparatus, and the apparatus itself in which a breathable gas delivery device, or mask (1), is connected to a gas supply pump (14) via a conduit which includes a restriction to gas flow such as a small bore portion (3). A pressure transducer (11) is used to sense the gas pressure at the patient's nose and the transducer output is used to servo-control the pump (14) to maintian the sensed pressure substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 6123071
Abstract: A combination mouth and nasal mask (40) for assisted respiration or CPAP is disclosed. The combination mask (40) has a frame (42) to the rear side of which is mounted a separate nasal cushion (44) and mouth cushion (46). Both the nasal cushion (44) and the mouth cushion (46) separately form a rolled edge seal around the patient's face in the vicinity of the nose and in the vicinity of the lips. Inlet air is communicated from within the housing (48) to the mouth chamber, circumscribed by the mouth cushion (46) by means of one or more interconnecting tubes (62).The proportion of air communicated to the mouth chamber (48) is controlled by the sizing and number of the tube(s), thus providing for free flow of air, restricted flow of air and pressure equalization, or zero flow of air.A mouth mask (10) for assisted respiration or CPAP also is disclosed.
