Abstract: Processes for navigating a three-dimensional (3D) environment using a two-dimensional (2D) input are provided. In some examples, a pair of touch points may be detected, and movement of a third touch point may be used to manipulate a 3D object or navigate a view point in 3D space. Different 2D and 3D input modes may also be provided that allow, for example, similar gestures to perform different commands in different modes. Multiple 3D modes may include a first mode that allows the user to navigate in a 3D environment and a second mode that allows the user to manipulate a 3D object using similar commands.
