Abstract: A method in a portable electronic device for providing a user with an improved user interface is described. The electronic device includes one or more processors and memory including instructions which when executed by the one or more processors cause the electronic device to perform the method. While content in a user interface of a first application is displayed, a first user input is detected. In response to the first user input, at least a preview for a second application is displayed. In some instances, the second application is selected automatically at least partly in dependence on the content displayed in the user interface of the first application.

Abstract: A method of controlling display of information on a portable electronic device includes detecting, at the portable electronic device, an input to enter an attachment and link view, in response to detecting the input to enter the attachment and link view, scanning communications received at the portable electronic device for attachments and links, the communications including messages received in a plurality of messaging applications, and displaying previews of the attachments and links from the plurality of messaging applications. The display of the previews of attachments and links from the plurality of messaging applications is dependent on an active application at the time of receipt of the input to enter the attachment and link view.
