Publication number: 20220156347Abstract: A system that enables digital distribution of copyrighted sheet music—and allows musician to view the copyrighted sheet music on personal computing devices—while preventing the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted sheet music. An electronic commerce platform provides functionality to purchase copies of copyrighted sheet music. A network security module provides login credentials for purchasers and musicians (and, in some embodiments, limits the number of simultaneous logins). A graphical user interface provides functionality for each purchaser to distribute each purchased copy to one—and only one—musician. In some embodiments, the system allows purchasers to recall sheet music distributed to a first musician and distribute the recalled sheet music to a second musician (without providing functionality for the first musician to view the recalled sheet music).Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2021Publication date: May 19, 2022Inventors: Ian Mcloughlin, Jacob Walls, David DiMarino, Kathleen Fernandes, Christopher Fowler, Dawn Fenstermacher, Robert Scott Grady, Danielle Kangas, Brian Dix

Publication number: 20220047747Abstract: A delivery device is for intermittently delivering materials such as liquids or gels over a sustained period of time to a surface in a controlled way. The surface mountable delivery device is capable of delivering, an antimicrobial agent to protect surfaces from microbial contamination and/or to disinfect surfaces, e.g. door handles, push plates, hand rails, etc. as an aid in preventing and/or hindering the spread of infectious agents. The device uses a vertically lapped nonwoven material as the storage medium for the liquid or gel like materials within the device. A non-wicking liquid mediating layer to controls transfer of liquid from a reservoir to a contact surface of the device to minimize liquid losses. An elastomeric contact liquid delivery layer is optimized for printability. Use of physical features at the device contact surface prevents pore occlusion on user contact and aids flow of liquid to the contact user.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2021Publication date: February 17, 2022Applicant: SURFACESKINS LIMITEDInventors: Stephen RUSSELL, Simon Joan SCOTT-HARDEN, Christopher FOWLER, Steven NEILL

Patent number: 6177944Abstract: A method and apparatus for a computer graphics rendering system which slices the traditional geometry pipeline into two phases to improve overall graphics system utilization is described. The graphics system consists of a host processor and a graphics adapter. The host creates work items and feeds them to the graphics adapter. In the two phase method, the first phase computes the clipping status and immediately returns this status information, before completion of the actual clipping, to the application running on the host processor to minimize stalling the host processor and hence the application. The second phase performs the rest of the work necessary to draw the objects on the screen. The advantage of two phase method is that the host processor minimizes its wait (but only for model/view transformation and clipping status determination) for a return status from the graphics adapter for the current work item and gets to create the next work item from the application sooner.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1998Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Mark Christopher Fowler, Kirk Steffen Haskell, Robert Spencer Horton, Thomas Yu-Kiu Kwok, Steve Mastrianni, Chandrasekhar Narayanaswami, Bengt-Olaf Schneider, Mark van Horn, James Lewis van Welzen

Patent number: 6052129Abstract: While executing the standard graphics processing steps, problem polygons (i.e., those outside of a defined clip volume) are buffered for later processing, while the standard graphics processing continues, without the need for periodically reformatting data and performing clipping. After either a predefined number of polygons have been stored at the buffer location, or at such time as a change in the rendering state occurs, the buffered polygons are clipped.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1997Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Mark Christopher Fowler, Kirk Steffen Haskell, Robert Spencer Horton, Thomas Yu-Kiu Kwok, Chandrasekhar Narayanaswami, Bengt-Olaf Schneider, Mark Van Horn, James Lewis van Welzen
