  • Patent number: 9305014
Abstract: Multiple servers sharing a distributed file system are used to perform copies of regions of a source file in parallel from a source storage unit to corresponding temporary files at a destination storage unit. These temporary files are then merged or combined into a single file at the destination storage unit in a way that preserves the inode structure and attributes of the source file. A substantial speedup is obtained by copying regions of the file in parallel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 28, 2014
Date of Patent: April 5, 2016
    Assignee: VMware, Inc.
Inventors: Christopher Frost, Jinyuan Li, Mayank Rawat, Murali Vilayannur
  • Publication number: 20150293107
Abstract: Compounds of general formula I wherein Fc and Fc? may be the same or different and are substituted ferrocenyl moieties having at least one ring substituent selected from sulfur-containing groups, phosphorus-containing groups, iodo, chloro, silyl, fluoroalkyl groups containing two or more fluorine atoms, heteroaryl, substituted phenyl, and cyano, wherein if present as sole substituent the cyano group is located on the proximal cyclopentadienyl ring; X is a spacer, Y is a spacer, Z is a spacer; and R is a linker group. Compound I may be used to make labelled substrates, functionalised compounds for making labelled substrates and may be used as labels in an electrochemical assay.

  • Publication number: 20150094945
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a representation of a vehicle path for display via a computer is disclosed, which involves receiving start location information including a start location and an initial orientation of the vehicle and end location information including a desired end location of the vehicle, and receiving a selection of a vehicle defined by parameters that define a turning behaviour of the vehicle. The method involves receiving constraint information identifying at least one constraint to passage of the vehicle between the start and end locations and causing a processor circuit to generate a vehicle path for travel between the start and end locations, the vehicle path based on the turning behaviour of the vehicle and being generated such that the vehicle path remains within the at least one constraint.
