  • Patent number: 6261457
Abstract: A peracetic acid disinfectant is used to clean particulate inorganic materials such as calcium and magnesium from fibers and filters. The method allows polysulfone filtens in particulate to be reused after soaking for at least about 18 hours, and most preferably at least about 24 hours, in the peracetic acid based solution. The cleaned filters have been shown to have a reuse life of in excess of 30% and up to about 60-80% of the original life of the filter. The peracetic acid solution and method may be used to clean both hollow fiber and pleated polysulfone filters.
