  • Patent number: 9717854
Abstract: An adapter for a syringe includes a base portion having an insertion hole and a flange portion extending laterally outwardly from the base portion. A longitudinal axis of the flange portion extends from a first distal end to an opposing second distal end. A first distance measured from a geometric center of the insertion hole to the first distal end of the flange portion is less than a second distance measured from the geometric center of the insertion hole to the second distal end. The first distance defines a first section of the flange portion and the second distance defines a second section of the flange portion. The first section has a cross-sectional shape that is one of at least slightly concave and at least slightly convex and the second section has a cross-sectional shape that is the other of at least slightly convex and at least slightly concave.

  • Patent number: 9474865
Abstract: A needle shield includes a body extending along a longitudinal axis, and having a longitudinal channel configured to receive a syringe. The body has injection and protection positions. A first latching mechanism on the body is radially outwardly deflectable and includes a protuberance extending radially into the channel. A second latching mechanism disposed on the body and proximally of the first latching mechanism is radially outwardly deflectable and includes a tab at a proximal end thereof extending radially into the channel. The tab has a radially inwardly tapering portion toward a proximal edge of the tab oriented generally perpendicularly with respect to the longitudinal axis. In the injection position, an annular ring on the syringe is located distally of the protuberance, and in the protection position, the proximal edge of the tab is in facing engagement with the annular ring to prevent proximal movement of the body on the syringe.

  • Publication number: 20160206829
Abstract: A recoil reducing needle shield for covering a drug container with a needle includes an outer shell, including an upper portion, a lower portion, and at least one flexible interface positioned therebetween, defining a fulcrum. Radially inward flexing of the upper portion causes radially outward flexing of the lower portion about the flexible interface. An inner cover includes an open proximal end, a closed distal end, and a needle cavity defined therein for receiving a portion of the drug container including the needle. At least a portion of the inner cover is disposed within the outer shell. The open proximal end of the inner cover is coupled to the lower portion of the outer shell, such that radially outward flexing of the lower portion stretches the open proximal end of the inner cover, thereby reducing an initial pull-off force required to remove the needle shield from the drug container.

  • Patent number: 9339606
Abstract: A conventional syringe includes a syringe barrel having a syringe barrel flange laterally extending from an open proximal end of the syringe barrel and a syringe plunger for advancement into the syringe barrel through the open proximal end. A foldable finger flange for such a syringe comprises an attachment member configured to be removably mounted onto the syringe barrel flange, and a flange member pivotably attached to the attachment member. At least a portion of the flange member is pivotable between a use position, wherein said portion of the flange member extends generally perpendicular to the syringe barrel, thereby providing a flange having a greater extent than the syringe barrel flange, and a non-use position, wherein said portion of the flange member does not extend generally perpendicular to the syringe barrel.

  • Publication number: 20160101238
Abstract: A conventional syringe defines a longitudinal axis and includes a syringe barrel having a syringe barrel flange laterally extending from an open proximal end of the syringe barrel and a plunger advanceable into the syringe barrel. A rotatable finger flange for such a syringe includes identical first and second flange components, each having an attachment member configured to releasably engage the syringe barrel flange and/or the other flange component, and a flange member laterally extending therefrom. The first and second flange component are engageable and rotatable relative to one another about the longitudinal axis between a non-use position, wherein the first flange member overlies the second flange member to reduce the finger flange footprint, and a use position, wherein the first flange member and the second flange member are angularly spaced apart from one another to provide a finger flange having a greater lateral extent than the syringe barrel flange.

  • Publication number: 20150246182
Abstract: A needle safety device has an outer tube within which a syringe barrel from which a cannula extends is slideably receivable. A collar in the outer tube is moveable relative thereto and rotatably attachable to the distal end of the barrel. A force member biases the outer tube in a distal direction. A cannula shield able to receive the cannula therein is in the outer tube. The cannula shield is fixedly attached to a cap removably attached to the outer tube. A track is formed in the inner surface of the outer tube. A pin extending radially outwardly from the collar slidingly engages the track. In a pre-injection position, the cannula is entirely within the outer tube. In a full-insertion position, the cannula extends beyond the outer tube. In a locked position, the cannula is irreversibly retained entirely within the outer tube.

  • Patent number: 8931663
Abstract: The present invention is a system for dispensing horizontally stacked moist towelettes. One embodiment involves turning a tub upside down and providing a side door for accessing the stacked towels. Another embodiment involves orienting a tub in an upright position and providing a means for users to easily access the contents. Moist towelettes are dispensed one at a time, from beginning to end. Once one towelette is removed, the next is in position for removal. Any towelette that falls back into the tub can be easily retrieved through the opening without having to open the entire package.

Abstract: A strip dispenser (70) for dispensing one strip (S) from a plurality of strips (S). The strip dispenser (70) includes a container (2) that is constructed and arranged to hold a number of strips (S). There is a first structure (3) that defines one or more thin slots (8) that are generally parallel to the perimeter of the container (2), and that have a smallest dimension that is greater than the smallest dimension of a strip (S), where the slots (8) are configured and arranged to inhibit two strips that are stuck together back to back from passing through the slot (8) together. There is also a strip sorting structure (4) that inhibits a strip (S) that has at least partially passed through a slot (8) from fully leaving the container (2) until the strip (S) is pulled out of the container (2) by the user.
