    Abstract: Certain features relate to improving the link-fault tolerance in a distributed antenna system (DAS) by utilizing a series of synchronous communication frames. A receiving remote unit or a head-end unit in the DAS can predict the start of incoming communication frames based on frame information extracted from previously received communication frames. For example, a remote unit can be configured to receive one or more communication frames, each of the one or more communication frames including a start-of-frame field. After a period of time corresponding to the frame repetition rate, the remote unit can search for an additional start-of-frame field, indicating the receipt of the next communication frame. The remote unit can extract the payload data from the next communication frame based on the predicted value for the additional start-of-frame field.

The aggregation operation may include a process that combines frames from transmitter devices. In response to determining that the buffering is required, frame adjustment signals may be transmitted to the transmitter devices. The frame adjustment signals may instruct the transmitter devices to transmit subsequent frames such that the buffering is reduced for a subsequent aggregation operation performed by the aggregation device using the subsequent frames.

The unit can generate a second combined uplink signal that includes baseband uplink transmissions received from a second subset of the remote units via the second channel and excludes or attenuates baseband uplink transmissions that are received from the first subset of the remote units via the second channel and that lack data for transmission to the base station are excluded or attenuated. The unit can transmit the combined uplink signals to the base station.
