  • Patent number: 11965732
Abstract: A method of measuring strain includes providing laminated material having ply layers, and a thickness along a direction orthogonal to the ply layers, and a strain sensor embedded between adjacent ply layers, wherein: the strain sensor includes first and second planar optical waveguide, each of the waveguides having a waveguiding core defining an optical propagation direction parallel to the laminated material and a Bragg grating in the waveguiding core, the optical propagation directions of the optical waveguides being non-parallel; interrogating the first optical waveguide Bragg grating with transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarized light, to obtain a TE spectral response and a TM spectral response; interrogating the second optical waveguide Bragg grating with TE and TM polarized light to obtain a TE spectral response and a TM spectral response; and processing the TE spectral responses and the TM spectral responses to extract a through-thickness component of strain.

  • Patent number: 11765173
Abstract: Techniques for managing redundant or overlapping access rules are provided. Access rules are determined for evaluation. Performance metrics for the access rules prior to implementation and post implementation are determined. Overlapping access rules are identified. Performance of the overlapping access rules are evaluated to determine actions to be applied to the overlapping access rules. Recommended actions and adjustments can be automatically provided by the system based on the performance analysis.

  • Patent number: 11634875
Abstract: A method for repairing/treating a pavement with the use of a rheology modifier is disclosed. The method comprises first applying a layer of a rheology modifier composition comprising a rejuvenating component onto the top surface of the pavement that needs repair, then applying a second layer of a binder onto the rheology modifier layer. The second layer of binder effectively seals the rheology modifier layer with the rejuvenating component for intimate contact with the top pavement surface, thus penetrating the surface layer to extend the life of the pavement surface, arresting the deterioration of visco-elastic properties and restoring some of those properties.

  • Publication number: 20210031900
Abstract: A rear pressure bulkhead comprising a dome shaped structure, and a set of built-in extension components (“petals”) homogeneously distributed along the periphery of the dome-shaped structure. This results in the dome-shaped structure being secured to a frame of the aircraft, while the extension components are secured to longitudinal structures of the aircraft. An aircraft rear fuselage is provided including such a rear pressure bulkhead so that the available cabin space, i.e., pressurized space, is extended without enlarging the fuselage.

  • Patent number: 10782473
Abstract: A method of forming an optical fibre assembly, comprises providing a planar substrate made of a first material; positioning an optical fibre with an outer layer of a first glass material on a surface of the substrate to form a pre-assembly; depositing a further glass material such as silica soot onto the pre-assembly, over at least a part of the optical fibre and adjacent parts of the substrate surface; and heating the pre-assembly to consolidate the further glass material into an amorphous volume in contact with at least parts of the surface of the substrate and the outer layer of the optical fibre, thereby bonding the optical fibre to the substrate to create the optical fibre assembly.

  • Patent number: 10781280
Abstract: A method for producing thermosetting phenolic resins includes the step of reacting a polycondensable phenolic compound with 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) under conditions leading to the formation of polycondensation products. The HMF includes at least one HMF oligomer, and the reaction step is carried out at pH values greater than 7 for more than 60 minutes. Further, thermosetting phenolic resins may be used for producing a wood composite material.

  • Patent number: 10735472
Abstract: The container deployment system of the present disclosure provides systems and processes to perform authorization of each unique container instance by the enterprise organization that published the container image and requested the container instance. A controller may be programmed or configured to apply one or more authorization policies to determine if a container instance should be executed or not. The authorization policies may include rules that restrict the number of containers running, cost consideration for executing a container, violations of time constraints for the execution of a container image, and violations of location constraints for execution of a container image, among other variations.
