  • Patent number: 7438167
Abstract: A coupling device (11) and method of assembly, the device being of the type including a plenum member (17) disposed at one axial end of the coupling housing (13,15), the method comprising configuring the plenum member (17) such that each of the required features (55,57,61,66) is disposed circumferentially between an adjacent pair of fastener holes (18H). Next, the input ring gear (R) is installed about the housing (13,15) of the coupling device (11), from an axial end opposite said plenum member (17), into assembly position adjacent said flange portion (18). Each of a plurality (N) of fasteners (89) is inserted through one of the fastener holes (18H) and into initial threaded engagement with the input ring gear (R). Finally, by means of a fastener driver, all of the plurality (N) of fasteners (89) are driven into full threaded engagement, substantially simultaneously, with the input ring gear (R).

  • Patent number: 7051857
Abstract: A method of controlling a pressure control valve assembly (69) to control a control pressure (43,71) in a system (11) including a source (47,49) of pressurized fluid. The control valve assembly is operable to vary the control pressure in response to variations in an electrical input signal (87) to an electromagnetic coil (81). The control valve assembly defines an inlet (77) in communication with the control pressure, an outlet (93) in communication with the low pressure, and a valve seat (89) disposed intermediate the inlet (77) and the outlet (93). A poppet valve member (91) is biased toward the valve seat by a biasing means including an armature (95), the biasing force being generally proportional to the input signal to the coil. The method comprises the steps of selecting a predetermined, minimum pressure for the control pressure corresponding to a minimum condition of the system.

  • Patent number: 6588089
Abstract: A sub-fractional Horsepower motor, intended for use with a worm on its output shaft, is positioned adjacent a servo actuator housing with the motor shaft disposed adjacent to and oriented generally parallel to the housing. The housing is provided with a resiliently deflectable rear motor mounting stanchion having a camming surface and a front motor mounting stanchion, both preferably formed integrally as a one-piece member with the housing. Upon assembly into the housing, the motor is maintained in its parallel orientation and moved in a single direction normal to the shaft to contact the camming surfaces, on the rear stanchion and deflects and snap-locks into the stanchion and the rear stanchion biases the motor axially such that the opposite shaft end of the motor registers against one surface of the front stanchion.

  • Patent number: 6375086
Abstract: A motorized refrigerant valve has a spool axially moveable in a valving bore in a valve body for controlling flow from a high pressure inlet for expansion and discharge at substantially reduced pressure to an outlet in the valve body. A ball screw is provided on the remote end of the spool and the ball screw is driven by a rotating shaft of a stepper motor attached to the valve body to provide fine resolution for linear movement of the spool in the valving passage. A separate isolated passage through the valve body is connected to receive evaporator discharge flow and has a thermistor sensing temperature therein and provides a temperature signal to an electronic controller for providing a driver signal to the stepper motor. The stepper motor and ball screw drive to the spool provide the desired modulation of refrigerant flow in response to the signal from the controller.

  • Patent number: 6361051
Abstract: A cylindrically curved rectangular face seal is provided for a cross-ported barrel type rotary valve member. The seal has a central flow orifice therethrough with an annular raised rib formed about the orifice and extending in a radial direction from the concave inner face of the seal. The opposite edges of the seal extending in an axial direction each have a notch or rib thereon for axial sliding engagement in grooves provided in the valve body. The annular rib about the orifice accommodates dimensional variation in the valve parts to ensure a rotary sliding seal on the rotary valve member.

  • Patent number: 6289913
Abstract: A motorized bypass valve having a valve body with cylindrical valving chambers with a single inlet and a first and second outlet ported to the chamber, such with convexo-concave face seals disposed over the ports. A rotary valving member having a partial cylindrical valving surface is disposed in the valving chamber and valving surface contacting the face seals. A motor housing is then spin welded onto the valve body to seal the valving chamber with the half shaft of the valving member extending into the motor housing and sealed by an O-ring. The motor and gear train are then assembled into the housing for driving the half shaft. The motor housing is closed by a cover welded thereover.
