Publication number: 20170284683Abstract: An air conditioning unit and method of mounting the same in an opening in a wall, particularly an opening housing a window. The unit includes a front section disposed inside the building on a first side of the opening; and a rear section disposed outside the building on a second side of the opening. A duct extends between the front and rear sections and is clampingly engaged between the sill and a bottom end of the window. The duct includes a first duct member that moves cooled air in a first direction towards the inside of the building; and a second duct member that moves return air in a second direction away from the inside of the building. The duct is changeable in length to alter the distance between the front and rear sections so as to accommodate the air conditioning unit's installation in windows in different thickness walls.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2017Publication date: October 5, 2017Inventors: Christopher J. Publication number: 20130026245Abstract: A heater having a housing including a bottom wall with a peripheral wall extending upwardly and outwardly away therefrom. A cavity is bounded and defined by the bottom and peripheral walls and a temperature control mechanism is disposed within the cavity. A footrest is engaged with the peripheral wall and closes off access to the cavity. The footrest is inclined at an angle relative to the bottom wall and slopes upwardly from a front region of the housing toward the back region thereof. The footrest includes a grid with a plurality of slats disposed thereon. The grid defines a plurality of apertures therein and the slats are spaced a distance apart from each other. When the temperature control mechanism is activated, air within the cavity is heated or cooled and is driven by a fan out of the aligned apertures and gaps. The slats are warmed or cooled by the driven air. The fan may be activated independently of the temperature control mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2011Publication date: January 31, 2013Applicant: HEAT SURGE, LLCInventor: Christopher J. Patent number: 8234803Abstract: A reflective device for use in an electric fireplace and a fireplace incorporating the same. The reflective device includes a shaft having a first and a second end cap mounted at opposite ends. An intermediate member extends outwardly from the shaft between the first and second end caps. One or more reflecting strips extend longitudinally between the first and second end caps and are spaced a distance away from the shaft. The reflecting strips are separated from each other by longitudinal gaps and are mounted so that they angle downwardly relative to the shaft from the intermediate member toward the first and second end caps. The shaft is rotated about its longitudinal axis so that it reflects light from a light source toward one of a screen, simulated ember bed and artificial log display in the fireplace housing.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2010Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Heat Surge, LLCInventors: Christopher J. Publication number: 20110168155Abstract: The present invention relates to a grill pedestal assembly which allows the grill portion to be selectively removed, whereby the grill remains usable for grilling purposes. The present invention further allows the pedestal portion to be collapsed into itself to require a much smaller volume for shipping and storage by rotating the neck portion and telescopically lowering the neck and shelf into the body. The required volume is reduced further by lowering the side shelves from a generally horizontal to a generally vertical position. Finally, the present invention may include a body formed from a single piece of material, and likewise, the neck may also be formed from a single piece of material.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: HEAT SURGE, LLCInventor: Christopher J.
