  • Patent number: 5061582
Abstract: The invention describes an optical data storage medium in which the optical contrast of stored data bits is enhanced by the use, as a photosensitive material or as an additional photosensitive material, of a layer of a photochromic fulgide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 14, 1989
Date of Patent: October 29, 1991
    Assignee: Plessey Overseas Limited
Inventors: Jack Brettle, Ian Bennion, Christopher J. Groves-Kirkby
  • Patent number: 4834511
Abstract: An optical resonant assembly which has at least two stable light transmittance values dependent on incident light beams. The assembly consists of a pair of parallel partially transmission mirrors with a photochromic layer placed therebetween which has a refractive index dependent upon the intensity of incident light beams. The parallel mirrors constitute a Fabry-Perot type resonator. The incident light beams have the effect of "couloring" or "bleaching" the photochromatic material.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: May 30, 1989
    Assignee: Plessey Overseas Limited
