  • Publication number: 20240126690
Abstract: A memory system includes a memory array having a plurality of memory cells; and a controller coupled to the memory array, the controller configured to: designate a storage mode for a target set of memory cells based on valid data in a source block, wherein the target set of memory cells are configured with a capacity to store up to a maximum number of bits per cell, and the storage mode is for dynamically configuring the target set of memory cells in as cache memory that stores a number of bits less per cell than the corresponding maximum capacity.

  • Patent number: 11349372
Abstract: There is provided a combustion engine and an electric generator. The combustion engine comprises an engine housing, a cylindrical member configured to rotate about an axis within a cavity of the engine housing, a piston, and an engagement section for engaging the piston. The piston is mounted to the engine housing and the engagement section is mounted to the cylindrical member, or the piston is mounted to the cylindrical member and the engagement section is mounted to the engine housing, such that the piston and the engagement section periodically rotate past one another as the cylindrical member is rotated within the engine housing. The piston engages the engagement section as they rotate past one another, the engagement forcing the piston to compress gases in a combustion chamber, which fire to drive the rotation of the cylindrical member. The electric generator may be driven by the combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 10449868
Abstract: There is provided a battery system comprising a control system (102, 131, 41) and a plurality of sub-batteries (130) that have different battery chemistries to one another, resulting in different discharge characteristics to one another. The plurality of sub-batteries (130) are connected in parallel to one another for delivering power to an output (107), wherein each sub-battery comprises a plurality of cell modules (140) for connecting in series with one another to form a series circuit. The control system is configured to switch ones of the cell modules (140) in and out of the series circuits to control how many cell modules are connected in each series circuit, thereby controlling which ones of the sub batteries contribute most power to the output (107). A method for managing the battery system is also provided.
