  • Patent number: 6819549
Abstract: Protective cover assemblies for portable electronic devices, e.g., Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), are provided. The protective cover assemblies include a substantially planar cover portion and a flexible bridge member pivotally coupled with one another by a pair of brackets. The substantially planar cover portion is rotatable in a dual-pivot arrangement provided by the brackets with respect to the portable electronic device between an open position exposing a display screen, wherein the substantially planar cover portion lies adjacent a back surface of the portable electronic device, and a closed position wherein the display screen is covered and protected. The flexible bridge member may be coupled with the electronic device by engagement of a pair of posts within recesses on a surface of the electronic device. Such recesses are sized and shaped for receiving connection/alignment posts on a storage cradle or the like and are commonly found on electronic devices such as PDAs.

  • Patent number: 5626320
Abstract: An instrument mounting bracket for the control yoke of an aircraft. The mounting bracket includes a main body having a C-shaped configuration which is intended to receive the yoke. Mounted to the main body is a presser plate which acts in conjunction with the main body to grip the yoke therebetween. The main body also includes a pair of threaded attachment holes, with one hole being normal to the plane of the C-shape and the other being within such plane. Either hole may receive a threaded shaft having an enlarged section. An extension arm which includes a mount for the instrument is provided with a through hole for the threaded shaft. Passing the shaft through the extension arm and tightening it within one of the attachment holes secures the extension arm to the main body, and permits angular adjustment of the arm with respect to the body. The extension arm may thus be positioned such that the instrument mount is located in front of the yoke handles, readily accessible to the user.

  • Patent number: 5526235
Abstract: An electronic storage device having IC chips mounted upon a board, with the board surrounded by a card housing. A portion of the card housing is formed of conductive material and is electrically connected to the board to allow the board to be easily grounded to reduce damage due to static electricity. The card is operatively received in a receptacle having a bay sized to receive the card. Upon insertion of the card into the bay, a grounding contact grounded to the receptacle may engage the conductive portion of the card housing to ground the card prior to the card contacts being operatively connected. The card preferably has a shape such that it may only be inserted into the bay in the proper orientation. The receptacle may have a power switch located to provide full access to the bay in the power-off position, but blocking bay access in the power-on position. This ensures that the card is not inserted while the receptacle is activated, and that the receptacle is deactivated prior to removing the card.
