  • Patent number: 6918534
Abstract: A system and method for substantially eliminating the release of pathogen agents circulating in the air within a collection box. The mail deposit openings (12, 14) of a collection box mail chute (16) are adapted with gaskets (18, 20) to form an airtight seal when the mail chute (16) is opened and closed, thereby isolating the collection box interior (26). An alternative embodiment can further include a charging device (32) and a chargeable material (34) to attract and detain airborne and free pathogen particles that enter the mail chute passage (22) either by newly deposited mail pieces (38) or airborne pathogen particles that migrated from within the collection box collection area (26).

  • Patent number: 6825634
Abstract: A motion control system comprises a motion unit having a motor connected to an encoder and an amplifier. The motion control system further comprises a scalable motion controller connected to the motion unit wherein the scalable motion controller receives signals from the encoder and outputs signals to the amplifier. The scalable motion controller comprises a plurality of dip sockets arranged for inserting and removing one or more motion control processors and a connector interface comprising a plurality of male and female connectors arranged for stacking a plurality of motion controllers.

  • Publication number: 20040179923
Abstract: An apparatus for providing test containers to a test position, includes a track adapted to guide test containers to a test position, a magazine adapted for holding a plurality of test containers and operatively engaged with the track to provide test containers to the track, and a drive mechanism adapted for moving individual test containers from the magazine and along the track to the test position. The magazine for serially providing a plurality of test containers, includes a housing forming a chamber adapted for holding a multiplicity of elongated test containers in parallel and adjacent alignment along a row, a stop element formed at one end of the housing in parallel alignment with the test containers, and a biasing mechanism adapted for physically biasing the row of test containers against the stop element, wherein the one end of the housing including an opening located adjacent to the stop element and adapted to allow test containers to be removed from the chamber.

  • Patent number: RE41591
Abstract: A system and method for detecting contaminants in or on objects, having a movably mounted container for holding objects and having a plurality of perforations and an entrance opening through which objects may be placed into the container. A housing encloses the container and forms a barrier to ambient air. There is a sealable opening for inserting and removing objects from the container. A drive assembly moves the container within the housing to move objects therein for emitting particles which are in or on such object. There is an air stream for moving air through the housing and container to entrain any emitted particles into the air stream and a sensor for sensing contaminants in the air stream and providing a signal when a contaminant is sensed. The container can be a rotatable cage or a vibrating box. In the method, there is a chamber provided which may be sealed with respect to ambient air to create an enclosed atmosphere.
