Publication number: 20260160872Abstract: A system and method for use on a recreational watercraft to enable simultaneous usage of multiple sonar systems operated by multiple fish finders installed on the recreational watercraft without causing crosstalk interference between or reducing performance of such sonar systems is presented. The system includes a precise time protocol enabled network configured in accordance with IEEE 1588, multiple fish finders that are members of the PTP network, and a sonar system operated by each of the fish finders. Each of the fish finders control pinging of its sonar system in accordance with a ping schedule and not based on token or permission passing techniques, once their local system clocks are synchronized with a grandmaster clock and a ping clock is derived therefrom. The method includes collecting ping requirements, sorting the fish finders into groups, and generating and broadcasting the ping schedule including time slots for the groups.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2024Publication date: June 11, 2026Applicant: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: Christopher James Bennett, Jean-Sebastien Désiré Albin Stoezel

Patent number: 8406083Abstract: A flasher sonar device includes a flasher that produces light output pulses along a flasher ring display based upon sonar returns. A user interface selects between a normal mode and a zoom mode. When the normal mode is selected, a controller drives the flasher to display a normal range. When the zoom mode is selected, the controller divides the normal range into a first range and a second range, compresses the first range into a compressed range, enlarges the second range into an enlarged range, and drives the flasher to display the enlarged range interleaved with the compressed range.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2008Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignee: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: David A. Betts, David E. Malphurs, Christopher E. Arney, Christopher James Bennett, Scott Allen Harrington

Patent number: 8094517Abstract: A flasher sonar device includes a motor driven flasher that produces light output pulses at angular positions along a flasher ring lens based upon sonar returns. A liquid crystal display (LCD) positioned concentrically with the flasher ring lens displays a dynamic annotated range scale associated with the flasher ring lens. A controller coordinates operation of the motor driven flasher and the LCD.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2008Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: Johnson Outdoors Inc.Inventors: Christopher E. Arney, Christopher James Bennett, Scott Allen Harrington

Patent number: 7601754Abstract: Novel flavonoid compounds having anti-oxidant activity are described. Formula 1. The compounds have been shown to exhibit anti-oxidative properties in biological systems and their utility in a sunscreen or skincare composition or to treat conditions involving oxidative damage, especially curative or prophylactic treatment of Alzheimer's disease or ischaemia-reperfusion injury, is described.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2003Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignee: Antoxis LimitedInventors: Stuart Thomas Caldwell, Christopher James Bennett, Richard Charles Hartley, Donald Barton McPhail, Garry Graeme Duthie

Patent number: 6771562Abstract: A buoy to shore fish finding system has a buoyant station with a sonar transmitter, a sonar receiver, a sonar to electric signal transducer and a radio transmitter all controlled by a microprocessor. The system shore station has a radio receiver and signal display controlled by a shore station microprocessor. The buoyant station microprocessor is programmed to generate sync pulses and to transmit both the sync pulses and transduced sonar echo returns to the shore station while the shore station microprocessor is programmed to display only echo signals received after a sync pulse. The shore station is detachably secured to the arm of the fisherman or to his fishing rod.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2002Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Techsonic Industries, Inc.Inventors: David A. Betts, Christopher James Bennett, Douglas W. Rasmussen
