  • Publication number: 20150222709
Abstract: An embedded device is connected to a portable device via an alternate connection that is separate from a first network interface used by the embedded device to connect to an Internet service. The Internet service provides support for the embedded device. The portable device connects to the Internet service via a second network interface of the portable device. First messages are exchanged between the portable device and the embedded device via the alternate connection, and second messages are exchanged between the portable device and the Internet service based on the first messages. The first messages and the second messages facilitate an interactive support session between the embedded device and the Internet service in place of the first network interface of the embedded device.

  • Publication number: 20150216209
Abstract: The invention relates to sweetening compositions obtained from the Luo Han Guo fruit, a member of the Cucurbiticeae family. The compositions are free of bitter-tasting impurities, have a light colour and contain about 16-75% mogroside V and about 30-95% total terpene glycosides on a dry weight basis. A filtered (0.2 ?m) solution of the composition in water with a solids content of 1% w/v has an absorbance at 420 nm of about 0.55 or below. Also disclosed is a method of preparing such compositions which includes a heating step to encourage the formation of melanoidins, highly coloured impurities, thereby permitting their removal by filtration providing a lighter coloured product.

  • Publication number: 20150218800
Abstract: A fitting for a cavity wall within a building includes an elongate member adapted to be supported within the cavity wall. The fitting has two adjacent limbs formed with holes along its length, to allow insulation to pass into an interior of the fitting. Two adjacent limbs form a V-shape channel extending along the top of the fitting when installed, to collect and direct water to the ends of the fitting and out through the boundary wall of the cavity. The fitting has a cross-shaped cross-section, and can be placed in the cavity retrospectively. The cross-shape of the fitting is provided almost flat when dispensed from a reel and when entering the cavity, then springs into the cross-shaped cross-section when the elongate member is straightened in the cavity, to fit tightly within the cavity. The fitting can be inserted into the cavity wall from inside or outside the building.

  • Patent number: 9097529
Abstract: A high integrity navigation system and method are provided. The method comprises performing a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) of a desired flight path of an aircraft, for example an approach to an airport, and comparing the CRC with a stored CRC performed on the identified flight path. If the comparison exceeds a first threshold, a first alert is provided wherein the pilot is to perform a published missed approach. A second alert, also requiring a missed approach, is provided when one or more comparisons are performed of a sensor position of the aircraft with the high integrity flight path; a defined flight path with the high integrity flight path; and the sensor position with an aircraft position determined by a flight management system, and thresholds are exceeded.

  • Patent number: 9092483
Abstract: There is provided a computer-implemented method for user query reformulation. A graph is created to represent a relationship between previous user query terms. The graph may represent the previous user searches in n-grams that correspond to nodes. A random walk analysis is performed to determine probabilities that various n-grams corresponding to nodes of the graph could be used to effectively alter a user search term. The probabilities represent a quantification of relationships between nodes of the graph. A determination may be made regarding whether to reformulate the user query based on a relationship between a user search term in the user query and a graphed search term represented by a node of the graph. The determination takes into account a relationship between the user search term and the graphed search term.

  • Publication number: 20150203228
Abstract: In one example of a vertical load case packer, guide rods provide horizontal adjustment of a tipping conveyor assembly to position the tipping conveyor assembly at a desired distance from the at least one bucket assembly. In operation, an indexing assembly advances case(s) into the tipping conveyor assembly. Side belts in the tipping conveyor assembly move and grip the case(s). A pivot rotates the tipping conveyor from a position wherein an open end of a case is oriented upwardly to a position wherein the open end is oriented horizontally to receive the product. Each bucket assembly receives product and delivers it to a case. A sliding bottom plate in the bucket assembly supports horizontally loaded product and advances the product into a case. A pusher plate prevents product from withdrawing from the case as the sliding bottom plate is withdrawn and further inserts the product into the case if needed.

  • Publication number: 20150208158
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for automatically controlling the operation of a media device based upon whether a portable presentation device coupled to the media device is currently being worn by a user. A portable presentation device may be any device that is meant to be worn by a user that is capable of presenting media content to the user (e.g. earphones, headphones, goggles or faceplates with video/audio capability, etc.). With this mechanism, a user can affect the operation of the media device by simply putting on or taking off the portable presentation device. The user does not need to manually manipulate the controls of the media device. By automatically controlling the operation of the media device in this manner, use of the media device and the portable presentation device as a unit is made much simpler and more convenient.

  • Patent number: 9088238
Abstract: A method of determining the position of a rotor of a permanent-magnet motor. The method uses two different schemes to determine the position of the rotor. A first scheme is used when the rotor rotates within a first speed range, by sequentially exciting and freewheeling a winding of the motor, measuring a parameter that depends on the rate of change of current in the winding, and comparing the parameter against a threshold. A second scheme is used when the rotor rotates within a second speed range, by generating a voltage signal that is proportional to the voltage across the winding, generating a further voltage signal that depends on the rate of change of current in the winding, and comparing the two signals.
