  • Patent number: 7496222
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for simultaneously modifying one or more angles of cross-sections in one or more cross-sectional images or stacks of images of a 3D volume. A plurality of viewports is displayed to a user. Each viewport includes a 2D cross-sectional image or stack of images and all 2D images or stacks of images are displayed simultaneously. One or more viewports may also include a control line representative of an angle of cross-section or image plane of a 2D image or stack of images displayed in another viewport. If a control line is moved in a selected viewport, the angle of cross-section or image plane of a 2D image or stack of images in another viewport is accordingly altered simultaneous with such control line movement.

  • Patent number: 7483939
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a method of medical image processing on a distributed network including: communicating on a distributed network comprising a server, a client, and a communications pathway having a bandwidth, wherein the distributed network comprises system resources related to the server, the client, and the communications pathway; monitoring the system resources and the bandwidth with at least one process monitor to generate monitor data; and recommending an allocation of at least a portion of the system resources for processing three dimensional image data to form two dimensional image data displayable on the client, wherein the allocation is based at least in part on the monitor data.

  • Publication number: 20030101291
Abstract: An application programming interface (API) for enabling a business layer of a tiered DICOM application to talk to different implementations of a data management layer. The invention has particular application in a PACS view station. In particular, the invention is directed to an API that forms the seam between a business layer that requests DICOM service by synchronous messaging and a data management layer that passes on those requests to the service provider by asynchronous messaging. Thus, an application developer need not write code for the business layer that accounts for the DICOM callback mechanism, which confirms completion of a requested DICOM service. Instead the data management implementation, which is hidden from the user, handles the callback mechanism so that responses to requests for DICOM service appear instantaneous to the user.

  • Patent number: 6501818
Abstract: A computed tomography system includes an x-ray source, an x-ray detector aligned with the x-ray source, a processor coupled to the x-ray detector, and a display for displaying reconstructed images. The processor is programmed to perform at least one of: generating a partially reconstructed image for display on the display; dynamically reformatting images for display on the display; communicating the partially reconstructed image, the reformatted images, or data associated with the system to a remote facility.

  • Publication number: 20020141623
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for rendering medical images for display on a medical imaging system. The method includes acquiring an image data set by way of an acquisitioning system, and entering a special mode of operation that is either an interactive mode of operation or a repetitive series rendering mode of operation. The method further includes pre-calculating pixel values based upon the image data set, and displaying an image on an output device based upon the pre-calculated pixel values. The method additionally includes altering at least one aspect of the displayed image, wherein the altered displayed image continues to be based upon the pre-calculated pixel values.
