    Abstract: A method of storing a file is provided. The method includes splitting the file into a plurality of file chunks and encrypting each file chunk of the plurality of file chunks. The method also includes generating a first security key that decrypts a first encrypted file chunk of the plurality of encrypted file chunks and storing ones of the plurality of encrypted file chunks at a second location separate and distinct from the first location. The method also includes storing a second security key that decrypts a second encrypted file chunk of the plurality of file chunks at the first encrypted file chunk where access is gained to the second security key when the first encrypted file chunk is decrypted using the first security key.

    Abstract: A method and system for delivering digital files in a peer-to-peer network comprising a plurality of nodes including at least one server is disclosed. The network includes a plurality of files that are available for accessibility by the nodes in which respective fingerprints are computed for each of the files based on content of the files. The method and system include partitioning each of the files into a plurality of file chunks, and assigning an error detecting code to each of the chunks. The file is then transmitted to a first node from at least one other node by transmitting the chunks of the file to the first node. The method and system further include computing a new error detecting code upon receipt of each chunk by the first node, and comparing the new error detecting code to the assigned error detecting code to verify that each chunk has been transmitted correctly, whereby the entire contents of the file does not have to be received before the first node discovers that the file is corrupt.

    Abstract: A method and system for providing a digital file marketplace is disclosed. The method and system include allowing content owners to share their digital files on the marketplace for access by consumers, and generating revenue by charging the consumers fees for receiving or opening the digital files. The method and system further include paying a percentage of the revenue to the content owners as royalties. In a further aspect of the present invention, consumers may become affiliates of the marketplace where the unused bandwidth of the consumer's computers is used to deliver the files to other consumers. As an incentive, affiliates are also paid for donating the bandwidth and for referring new consumers to the marketplace.
