  • Publication number: 20180204993
Abstract: A heat-conductive and electrically insulating connection for securing a thermoelectric element to an outer wall, e.g., a hot side and/or a cold side, of a thermoelectric module may include an electrical insulation layer connected to the outer wall. The insulation layer may be provided by a dielectric. The connection may also include an electrically conductive metal layer connected to the insulation layer. The thermoelectric element may be connected in an electrically conductive and fixed manner to the metal layer acting as a conductor bridge. Additionally or alternatively, the thermoelectric element may be connected in an electrically conductive and fixed manner to a separate conductor bridge.

  • Publication number: 20180083180
Abstract: A thermoelectric generator for a motor vehicle may include a housing. The housing may define a housing interior space. An outer thermal insulation may be arranged in the housing interior space. The outer thermal insulation may at least partially envelope an insulation interior space. A plurality of first stack discs and a plurality of second stack discs may be alternately stacked along a stack direction within the insulation interior space. The alternately stacked plurality of first stack discs and second stack discs may form a plurality of stack disc pairs. Each of the plurality of stack disc pairs may include a first stack disc and a second stack disc. The first stack disc and the second stack disc may define a gas flow path.

  • Publication number: 20180080363
Abstract: A thermoelectric generator for a motor vehicle may include a plurality of first stacking disks and a plurality of second stacking disks. The plurality of first stacking disks and the plurality of second stacking disks may be alternately stacked in a stacking direction and may each be shell shaped. The alternately stacked plurality of first stacking disks and second stacking disks may form a plurality of stacking disk pairs. The plurality of stacking disk pairs may each include a first stacking disk and a second stacking disk adjacent to the first stacking disk in the stacking direction. The first stacking disk and the second stacking disk may define a gas path. At least one intermediate space may be defined between adjacent stacking disk pairs. At least one tubular body may be disposed within the at least one intermediate space and may define at least one coolant path.

  • Patent number: 9865788
Abstract: A thermoelectric device may include a housing that may have a first housing element and a second housing element. The first housing element and the second housing element may each be composed of an electrically conductive material. At least two thermoelectric elements may be arranged between the first housing element and the second housing element. The at least two thermoelectric elements may be arranged at a distance from each other and may be electrically connected via at least one conductor bridge. A first electrical insulator may be arranged between the at least two thermoelectric elements and the first housing element. A second electrical insulator may be arranged between the at least two thermoelectric elements and the second housing element.

  • Publication number: 20170279026
Abstract: A thermoelectric module may include a metallic module housing surrounding a module interior and conductor bridges arranged therein. The module housing may include a cold side wall and a warm side wall connected to cold-side conductor bridges and warm-side conductor bridges, respectively, in a thermally conductive, electrically insulating and permanent manner. The module may also include thermoelectric elements extending between the cold-side and warm-side conductor bridges. The cold side wall may be formed from a first metal material having a first heat expansion coefficient, and the warm side wall may be formed from a second metal material having a second heat expansion coefficient distinct from the first heat expansion coefficient. At least one of the first and second metal materials may be an iron material, the wall formed from the iron material having an electrically insulating coating, including one of a glass-ceramic sol-gel, a silicon oxide, and a polysilazen coating.
