  • Patent number: 11990743
Abstract: Methods and systems for detecting a half-wave condition in an electrical appliance are disclosed herein. The method can include providing, by an electronic controller, an input signal to a triac circuit for controlling an electric motor, the triac circuit configured to control the electric motor, and receiving, by the electronic controller, a feedback signal from a feedback circuit indicative of an output of the triac circuit. The method can further include determining that the feedback signal indicates a half-wave condition is present, generating a shutdown signal for the electric motor, and providing the shutdown signal, by the electronic controller, to the triac circuit.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 23, 2022
Date of Patent: May 21, 2024
Assignee: Haier US Appliance Solutions, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20180051888
Abstract: An oven appliance and methods of operating the appliance, the appliance including a cooktop and one or more heating elements wherein the heating elements have no onboard sensors. The oven appliance also includes a resistance sensor for remotely sensing the resistance of the one or more heating elements to indirectly determine whether the cooktop is relatively cool before deactivating an associated hot surface indicator light.

  • Patent number: 9528709
Abstract: An oven appliance including a cabinet having a first wall at least partially defining a cooking chamber configured for receipt of items to be cooked is provided. The oven appliance also includes a lighting system positioned adjacent to an opening defined by the first wall of the cabinet. The lighting system includes an optical feature and a light source positioned outside the cooking chamber and spaced from the opening in the first wall. The optical feature extends between the light source and the opening defined by the first wall to direct light from the light source into the cooking chamber when the lighting system is activated.

  • Publication number: 20160320070
Abstract: An oven appliance including a cabinet and a lighting system is provided. The cabinet defines a cooking chamber and includes a first wall and a second wall spaced along a lateral direction. The first wall defines a central plane (extending in a vertical direction and a transverse direction) and a protrusion. The protrusion extends outwardly from the central plane in a direction away from the second wall. The lighting system includes a portion positioned adjacent to a near section of the protrusion, the near section of the protrusion being closer to a cooking chamber opening than a far section of the protrusion. The lighting system may thus be obstructed from view generally along the central plane of the first wall as viewed from the cooking chamber opening.
