  • Publication number: 20240355439
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for measuring a tibia varus or valgus angle via a surgically implanted measurement device. An exemplary method may include: receiving, via at least one processor, first data from the measurement device, wherein: a housing of the measurement device is coupled to a musculoskeletal system of a patient; and the first data includes a plurality of measurements from each of an accelerometer and a gyroscope included with an inertial measurement unit disposed within the housing; receiving, via the at least one processor, a first measurement of an anatomical feature of a leg of the patient; determining the tibia varus or valgus angle based on the first measurement; and causing a display to output the determined tibia varus or valgus angle. In some embodiments, instructions for implementing the method may be stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium.

  • Publication number: 20230240865
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for measuring a femoral alignment of a femur of a patient via a surgically implanted measurement device. An exemplary method may include: receiving, via at least one processor, first data from the measurement device, wherein: a housing of the measurement device is coupled to a musculoskeletal system of a patient; and the first data includes a plurality of measurements from each of an accelerometer and a gyroscope included with an inertial measurement unit disposed within the housing; determining the femoral alignment based on the first data; and causing a display to output the determined femoral alignment.

  • Patent number: 10208975
Abstract: A smart pet-crate is disclosed. The smart pet-crate provides a den-like habitat for an animal and is configured with electronics that include sensors to detect aspects of the animal's environment and environmental conditioners to adjust the environment within the pet crate in response to the detected aspects. The conditioned environment within the pet crate will provide comfort to the animal, which may help to reduce the animal's fear/anxiety. The smart pet-crate may be communicatively coupled to a body sensor worn by the animal and a computing device used by a human to form a pet care system, allowing for remote control of the pet crate and interaction with the animal. For the particular embodiment of a smart music playing pet crate, a method for selecting songs from a playlist based on sensing and computing the animal's preferences is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150106024
Abstract: A method for determining implant position and orientation comprises generating a plurality of predetermined criteria associated with a surgical procedure. The plurality of predetermined criteria including at least one of a mechanical alignment metric, a soft-tissue balancing metric, and a functional outcome metric. The method also comprises receiving one or more user selections of performance criteria, the one or more user-selections based on a user's desired outcome of the surgical procedure. At least one weighting factor associated with a simulation algorithm may be adjusted based on the received user selections of predetermined criteria. The method also includes simulating a patient-specific model, and determining performance metrics based on the user selected performance criteria. The information indicative of at least one of a recommended implant position or a recommended implant orientation may be provided for display to a graphical user interface, the information being based on the performance metrics.
