  • Publication number: 20210056523
Abstract: A method for making an electronic payment includes, at a first time, inserting a physical payment card into a physical device of a first point of sale. The device is arranged to electronically read payment card information sufficient to perform the electronic payment. An option is presented as to whether to store the card information. A physical item that is not the payment card is identified and the payment card information is associated in a central server with information identifying the physical item. At a later, second, time a use is authenticated by a second point of sale based upon the item identifying information. Electronic payment using the payment card information is then performed.

  • Publication number: 20200349550
Abstract: Method for authenticating a transaction, wherein a first transaction party uses a first electronic device (310,320) with a screen display (311,321) and a second transaction party uses a second, portable, electronic device (410) with a camera. The invention is characterised in the steps a) associating the transaction with the first device and providing there to transaction information; b) displaying, on the screen display, visually coded information identifying the transaction; c) capturing, using the camera, an image of the screen display, which image comprises said coded information and at least a portion of the first device outside of the screen display; d) based upon the captured image, decoding and interpreting said coded information and identifying a piece of first device hardware; e) verifying that the transaction identified by the coded information is associated with the first device, based upon the identified piece of hardware. The invention also relates to a system.

  • Patent number: 10454684
Abstract: Method for authenticating a user to a central server (130) and using an electronic device (120,122) with a screen display (121,123). The method comprises the following steps: a) associating each of the devices or users, with a unique set of codes (132), and each code with a piece of information; b) providing a software function, accessible from the selected electronic device; c) providing, on the screen display, a user interface activatable in several different ways, corresponding to different codes; d) specifying pieces of information and determining the corresponding codes; e) calculating a one-way function; f) communicating the calculated value to the central server; g) calculating a comparison output value; and h) authenticating the user if the values are equal. The invention also relates to a system (100) and a computer software product arranged to cooperate with such a system.

  • Publication number: 20180341935
Abstract: The aim of the present application is to enable a person to pay with a payment card without having physical access to the payment card. The present application also aims to allow other users than the owner of the payment card to pay with the payment card. To reach these aims, the present application proposes that at a first point in time, a physical item, held by a first user, is registered with a central server together with a corresponding piece of electronically stored item identifying information. At a second point in time, a physical device of a first point of sale reads payment card information from a physical payment card, and receive a response from the first user to store the payment card information. The payment card information is associated with the already registered item in the central server. At a third, later point in time a second user provides said item identifying information to authenticate at a second point of sale, and make an electronic payment using the payment card information.

  • Publication number: 20150310411
Abstract: Method for purchasing or claiming a product from an automated physical point of sale (100) and using a portable communication device (110), which point of sale (100) is connected to a central server (180). In the method, information is provided to the central server (180) concerning the currently available range of products at the point of sale (100). A user is provided access to a graphical user interface (401;402;403) on the device (110), enabling the user to initiate the purchase or claim at the point of sale (100). A purchase of claim request is provided from the computer software function to the central server (180). If the product is available, an instruction to make available to the user the product is provided from the central server (180) to the point of sale (100). The point of sale (100) then makes the product available to the user.

  • Publication number: 20150302391
Abstract: Method for making a payment using a portable communication device (110), wherein an SMS (Short Message Service) message (510;520) of a predetermined format, including a payment instruction with information (511;521) identifying a physical point of sale (100), and a product (101) or an amount, is sent from the device via a mobile phone network (111) to an SMS recipient (130,140), arranged to cause the payment to be executed. The method includes: providing first (140) and second (130) SMS recipients with different telephone numbers, the first causing the payment to be charged via a first payment service provider and the second causing the payment to instead be charged via a second payment service provider; and providing a computer software function arranged to automatically produce an SMS message of the type based upon parameter data available to the device, to select an SMS recipient, and send the SMS message.
