  • Publication number: 20240127797
Abstract: Provided is a method including obtaining a set of ontologies mapping n-grams onto concepts to which the n-grams refer in different respective domains of knowledge. The method includes receiving an update associating a first n-gram with a first concept and receiving information by which the update is associated with a given domain of knowledge. The method includes selecting a subset of ontologies by determining that the update in the given domain of knowledge is applicable to respective domains of knowledge of the subset of ontologies and that the first concept has a specified type of relationship to a subset of concepts to which other n-grams are mapped in the subset of ontologies. The method also includes storing, in response to the determination, associations between the first n-gram and the subset of concepts in at least some of the subset of ontologies in memory of the computer system.

  • Publication number: 20240111383
Abstract: A method of quantifying the effect of peripheral optical errors on patient locomotion includes projecting a pattern on the floor that includes a discrete shapes and empty spaces between the discrete shapes. The method also includes tracking a position of the participant along the pattern as the participant traverses the pattern, and determining foot placement accuracy, utilizing a optical motion capture system and a computer, as the participant walked through the pattern by determining a total area of overlap between the participant's feet and the empty spaces of the pattern. In another embodiment, the method includes arranging obstacles in front of a participant, intermittently displaying a character in front of the participant, determining participant's accuracy in identifying or counting the characters, and determining the participant's step length and foot clearance as the participant steps over the obstacles to quantify the effect of the peripheral optical errors on the participant's locomotion.

  • Patent number: 11949793
Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to providing authentication and confidentiality mechanisms for message communication over an in-vehicle network. For example, authentication data associated with a communicating node may be transmitted over the network by encoding different predefined voltage levels on top of the message bits of the message being communicated. Different voltage levels may represent different encodings, such as a bit-pair or any bit combination of the authentication data. In a further example, messaging confidentiality between at least two communicating nodes may be achieved by pseudo-randomly flipping, or scrambling, the dominant and recessive voltages of the entire message frame at the analog level based on a pseudo-random control bit sequence.

  • Patent number: 11941745
Abstract: Disclosed approaches may leverage the actual spatial and reflective properties of a virtual environment—such as the size, shape, and orientation of a bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) lobe of a light path and its position relative to a reflection surface, a virtual screen, and a virtual camera—to produce, for a pixel, an anisotropic kernel filter having dimensions and weights that accurately reflect the spatial characteristics of the virtual environment as well as the reflective properties of the surface. In order to accomplish this, geometry may be computed that corresponds to a projection of a reflection of the BRDF lobe below the surface along a view vector to the pixel. Using this approach, the dimensions of the anisotropic filter kernel may correspond to the BRDF lobe to accurately reflect the spatial characteristics of the virtual environment as well as the reflective properties of the surface.

  • Patent number: 11922110
Abstract: Systems and techniques for generating responsive documents are described. Digital content is organized into a structure that defines how content is presented when a document is displayed by a computing device. To generate the responsive document, relationships are defined among different digital content objects, such as groups of content objects to be presented together and content objects that are to be presented as alternatives of one another. Responsive patterns are assigned to grouped content objects, where each responsive pattern defines different layout configurations for displaying grouped content objects based on computing device display characteristics. In some implementations, multiple responsive patterns are assigned to a single content group and individual responsive patterns are associated with activation ranges for display characteristics that activate the responsive pattern.

  • Patent number: 11912292
Abstract: The technology relates to partially redundant equipment architectures for vehicles able to operate in an autonomous driving mode. Aspects of the technology employ fallback configurations, such as two or more fallback sensor configurations that provide some minimum amount of field of view (FOV) around the vehicle. For instance, different sensor arrangements are logically associated with different operating domains of the vehicle. Fallback configurations for computing resources and/or power resources are also provided. Each fallback configuration may have different reasons for being triggered, and may result in different types of fallback modes of operation. Triggering conditions may relate, e.g., to a type of failure, fault or other reduction in component capability, the current driving mode, environmental conditions in the vicinity of vehicle or along a planned route, or other factors.
