  • Publication number: 20170021498
Abstract: Provided herein is a robotic gripper comprising two gripping components, where each component may comprise a rotatable axle oriented along a longitudinal axis, and where the respective axles may be oriented substantially perpendicular to each other. Each component may further comprise a pair of opposing gripping fingers with each gripping finger of the pair being coupled to a respective end of the axle. Each axle may be independently operable to rotate the respective pair of gripping fingers about the longitudinal axis of the respective axle, and each pair of gripping fingers may be independently operable to move the gripping fingers of the respective pair toward and away from each other. • Publication number: 20160290534
Abstract: A process for manufacturing pipes using thermoplastic pipe and “tape” (continuous fiber, fully wetted in a similar thermoplastic as the pipe) that embeds the fibers into pipe surface. In one embodiment, an ambient temperature (72 degrees F.) tape is tightly wrapped around the cold pipe in a dry environment (relative humidity below 30). An external heat source is used to heat up the entire length of the pipe causing the thermoplastic to melt and the pipe to expand due to thermal expansion. Since the fibers have less stretch than the thermal expansion of the pipe the fibers will be embedded into the molten layer of the pipe, creating a permanent bond between the fibers and the pipe. A protective film is applied to the pipe. Portions of the tape and film are scraped from the surface of the pipe creating an area where the end of the pipe is coupled to another pipe using an electronic fusion coupler.

  • Publication number: 20160208160
Abstract: Particles that comprise calcium methylglycine diacetic acid salt (“Ca-MGDA salt”) may be useful for fluid diversion in subterranean operations. In some instances, the particles may be formed in the subterranean formation. For example, a method may involve introducing a treatment fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, wherein the treatment fluid comprises an aqueous base fluid, MGDA or salt thereof, and an acid in an amount of about 3% or greater by weight of the aqueous base fluid; acidizing a portion of the subterranean formation comprising calcium carbonate resulting in a concentration of calcium in the treatment fluid that exceeds about 50,000 ppm; and precipitating a plurality of particles that comprise a Ca-MGDA salt in the portion of the subterranean formation, thereby reducing fluid flow therethrough. In some instances, the particles that comprise Ca-MGDA salt may be included in a treatment fluid before introduction into the subterranean formation.

  • Publication number: 20150263918
Abstract: A system is described that includes devices detecting and periodically transmitting data of events and conditions within an environment. The devices are communicatively coupled with applications running on processors of a remote server. The devices periodically request a connection with the applications, wherein the applications monitor a range of port numbers for receiving the devices' connection requests. The devices request connections at corresponding port numbers among the monitored range of port numbers. The applications accept the connection requests from the devices at the corresponding port numbers, wherein the devices transmit the data to the one or more applications during corresponding communication sessions. The applications evaluate attributes of the devices' connection requests and communication sessions and manage assignment of the devices to port numbers using information of the evaluating.
