  • Patent number: 10975819
Abstract: A fuel injector retention arrangement includes an interior space which extends into a fuel rail socket along an axis. A retention flange of a fuel injector extends radially outward therefrom such that the retention flange is disposed within the interior space. A slot extends radially from the interior space to a fuel rail socket exterior surface and a retention groove extends radially outward from the interior space. A retainer includes a first leg extending through the slot and a second leg extending through the slot, the first leg and the second leg being connected to each other at one end by a retainer base. A lobe of the first leg extends into the retention groove and supports the retention flange and a lobe of the second leg extends into the retention groove and supports the retention flange, thereby retaining the fuel injector to the fuel rail socket.

  • Patent number: 10794350
Abstract: A fuel line assembly includes a fuel line having has an inner surface and an outer surface joined to each other by a fuel line aperture. A fuel injector socket has at one end a fixation saddle which is concave within which the fuel line is received such that the fixation saddle has a concave surface facing toward the fuel line. A fuel injector socket receiving bore extends into another end of the fuel injector socket to receive a fuel injector therewithin. A fuel injector socket aperture extends from the concave surface to the fuel injector socket receiving bore. An alignment tube provides fluid communication between the inner surface and the fuel injector socket receiving bore, wherein a portion of the alignment tube is circumferentially surrounded by the fuel line aperture and wherein another portion of the alignment tube is circumferentially surrounded by the fuel injector socket aperture.

  • Patent number: 9453485
Abstract: A fuel rail assembly for supplying pressurized fuel to at least one fuel injector of an engine includes a hollow fuel rail extending along a fuel rail axis. The fuel rail includes an inlet for introducing the pressurized fuel into the fuel rail and at least one outlet for dispensing the pressurized fuel from the fuel rail. The fuel rail assembly also includes a bracket for attaching the fuel rail assembly to the engine. The bracket includes a fuel rail portion defining a first passage extending therethrough in the same direction as the fuel rail axis for receiving the fuel rail therewithin. The bracket also includes a mounting portion adjacent to the fuel rail portion and defining a second passage extending therethrough in the same direction as the fuel rail axis. The mounting portion is configured to receive a fastener for securing the fuel rail assembly to the engine.

  • Patent number: 7438055
Abstract: A fuel injection system includes a fuel injector socket including a first attachment feature and a fuel injector including a second attachment feature that corresponds with the first attachment feature. The first attachment feature engages with the second attachment feature connecting the fuel injector to the fuel injector socket and preventing rotational movement of the fuel injector relative to the fuel injector socket. The corresponding attachment features not only enable simple connection and disconnection of a fuel injector to a fuel injector socket of a fuel rail, but can also be integrated into existing injector to fuel rail assembly processes and are applicable in any fuel injection system. The corresponding attachment features may be used with metal fabricated fuel rail assemblies as well as for fuel rail assemblies where the manifold supply tube and the fuel injector sockets are overmolded with a plastic material.

  • Patent number: 7165535
Abstract: An internal pulse damper for use in a fuel rail for an internal combustion engine. The damper is formed from a length of tubular metal stock having a flat oval cross-section and ends flattened by crimping to form a captive-air pillow. The end crimps are improved through use of tooling to eliminate a creased sidewall area vulnerable to stress failure in prior art pulse dampers. Such tooling includes constraints to prevent the tubing sides from flaring out and forming a longitudinal crease adjacent the end crimp during squeezing-shut of the tube end.
