    Abstract: Provided is a device that can be attached to an endoscopic device and when so attached is capable of protecting said endoscope from damage that may be caused by errant laser fire. Also provided is a device that can determine the potential for damage from errant laser fire to a connected endoscopic device and emit a warning of such potential damage and, if required, can place the laser in a standby mode to avoid damage from errant laser fire.
