    Abstract: A system for facilitating the selection and purchase of a service by a user from a service provider is provided. The system includes a computer and a database accessible by the computer, the database having stored thereon information relating to service provider benchmarks. Software is provided for receiving from the user information relating to a desired service. This information is compared, based upon preselected criteria, with the information relating to service provider benchmarks to identify at least one appropriate service provider. Software is also provided for receiving quotes from the at least one identified appropriate service provider in response to requests for proposals, and for transmitting the received quotes to the user.
