  • Patent number: 11544234
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product are provided for virtualizing specific values in a guest configuration based on the underlying host symbol substitution values. A symbolic link located in a traditional file system in a virtual guest is opened. Each symbol is extracted from a symbol-based file located in a symbol-based file system. The symbol-based file is accessed through a symbolic link from the traditional file system. The virtual guest issues a privileged instruction to a hypervisor for each symbol in the symbol-based file to retrieve a substitution value from a symbol table that is stored in hypervisor storage. The substitution value for each symbol is returned to the virtual guest, and it replaces the symbol in the symbol-based file. In response to a file read request for the traditional file, the substitution value is retrieved from the symbol-based file using the symbolic link from the traditional file.

  • Publication number: 20220197680
Abstract: Techniques for integrated authentication for a container-based environment are described herein. An aspect includes accessing, by an application that is running in a container in a container environment that is hosted by a hypervisor on a host system, an authentication module that is located in the container environment. Another aspect includes invoking an authentication handler in the container environment based on the accessing of the authentication module. Another aspect includes passing control to the hypervisor from the authentication handler. Another aspect includes retrieving a security artifact from a security database of the host system by the hypervisor. Another aspect includes providing the retrieved security artifact to the application via the authentication handler. Another aspect includes performing an authentication operation by the application using the security artifact.

  • Patent number: 11349964
Abstract: A method, system, and program product are provided. A plurality of recovery groups is defined on each transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) stack in a cluster of servers. The recovery group includes a service, one or more IP addresses associated with the service, a trigger condition, and a recovery action. Each of the recovery groups is monitored for an occurrence of the trigger condition associated with the service. In response to detecting the trigger condition, a backup TCP/IP stack is notified to automatically perform the recovery action defined for a failing recovery group on an owning TCP/IP stack. Only the failing recovery group is recovered and the remaining recovery groups execute uninterrupted.

  • Publication number: 20220134427
Abstract: Examples for refining the microstructure of metallic materials used for additive manufacturing are described herein. An example can involve generating a first layer of an integral object by heating a metallic material to a molten state such that the metallic material includes a solid-liquid interface. The example can further involve applying an electromagnetic field or vibrations to the metallic material of the first layer. In some instances, the electromagnetic fields or vibrations perturb the first layer of metallic material causing nucleation sites to form at the solid-liquid interface of the metallic material in the molten state. The example also includes generating a second layer coupled to the first layer of the integral object. Generating the second layer increases a number of nucleation sites at the solid-liquid interface of the metallic material in the molten state. Each nucleation site can grows a crystal at a spatially-random orientation.

  • Patent number: 11301024
Abstract: System and methods for detecting and monitoring power characteristics amongst connected devices in a multi-device system, such as a conferencing system, are disclosed. The system and methods sense power characteristics at various points within the system, such as at ports of the host and client devices. The hosts and client devices can include control units and conferencing units (e.g., microphones) in conferencing applications. The power characteristics can be communicated to the host device for further treatment, such as monitoring, processing and outputting data to allow determination of conditions associated with the power distribution of the system.

  • Patent number: 11191403
Abstract: A docking station for a robotic cleaner may include a base, a docking station dust cup removably coupled to the base, a latch actuatable between a retaining position and a release position, and a release system configured to actuate the latch between the retaining and release positions. The docking station dust cup may be removable from the base in response to a pivotal movement of the docking station dust cup relative to the base about a pivot point. The latch may be horizontally spaced apart from the pivot point, wherein, when the latch is in the retaining position, pivotal movement of the docking station dust cup is substantially prevented.
