Abstract: A system and method for instantiating an operating system within the context of a content management and delivery system. The operating system to be instantiated may be presented in the form of an object configured to be downloaded to a workspace in a content management and delivery application and that is created by a content manager. In the workspace at various users' local devices, a content manager may choose to allow specific objects to be cached for offline access at the various users' devices. One such object may be an operating system in and of itself. When such an operating system is instantiated within the content management and delivery system, the operating system may supersede the existing operating system thereby allowing a user of a device access to only other content and data (other objects) as so deemed permissible by a content manager. The operating system may include application programming interfaces (APIs) for handling web browsing, file management, and other operating system aspects.

The content may be presented in the form of objects in a workspace of a folio created by one or more content managers. The content manager may then allow authorized users to access or download the workspace through various user devices having browser-based web services or applications executing thereon. Further, the content manager may assign conditional operating parameters to each object or set of objects such that only specific users have access or an ability to download the object or the application for interacting with the object. Further yet, the content manager may specify relationships between objects such that users may only use or download the objects in a specific order. The content manager may have several other levels of control of the sets of objects and the objects in the workspace.

Abstract: A system and method for cycling cached content stored in a local memory. The content may be presented in the form of objects in a workspace created by a content manager. The content manager may further configure each object on the folio to have conditional operating parameters. A content manager may choose to allow specific objects to be cached for offline access or downloaded at specific times if a conditional operating parameter is met. For example, training materials may be used by users in a serial manner such that a first object may be cached at a first time. Then when the user has completed the use of the object (e.g., watched a first presentation), the object may be removed from memory and a second object may be cached. In this manner, objects may be cycled in cache memory according to a specific plan so as to more efficiently use memory space on a content user computer.
