  • Patent number: 4796271
Abstract: A rare gas halide laser has a hollow discharge tube disposed between two metal electrodes, and a high frequency electrical generator attached to the electrodes. In order to increase the duty factor of the laser, the bore in the discharge tube is formed with two opposing walls which are separated by a small distance, preferably less than 0.5 millimeters, so that the rate of recombination of the halide compound is increased.
