  • Patent number: 7882567
Abstract: A baseball or softball glove includes a strap to provide a compressive force across the fingers of a hand inserted into the glove. The compressive force facilitates the snapping the glove to catch and secure a ball. Additionally, the ring finger and the pinky finger may be inserted into the same finger stall of the glove to compensate for the weakness of the ring finger in making the snapping motion. The glove is still given the appearance of providing a separate finger stall for each finger. A guide wall is placed across the entrance to the unused finger stall to maneuver the ring finger into the pinky stall.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 31, 2007
Date of Patent: February 8, 2011
    Assignee: NIKE, Inc.

  • Patent number: 7480944
Abstract: A self-closing wrist closure system and an athletic glove using the closure system. The closure system comprises an elastic member contained within a casing and anchored at first and second anchor points within the casing and extending between the two anchor points. The casing defines a slit along the wrist circumference side extending into the glove body to enable expansion of the wrist opening. The wrist closure system is adapted to enable a wearer's hand to enter the glove by stretching of the elastic member and spreading of the slit and then to cinch around the wearer's hand by recovery of the elastic member and narrowing of the slit.

  • Publication number: 20070124842
Abstract: An impact attenuating chin protector comprises a hard outer shell with a narrowed central area to better dissipate impact forces and an inner foam member. The foam member includes a series of alternating foam columns and recesses with perforations at controlled locations to provide additional force dissipation, improved ventilation, and protection from the edges of the hard outer shell. The interior surface of the foam member is configured so that almost the entire interior surface contacts the wearer's chin except for the perforations. The columns and recesses are configured so that recesses are located around two pressure points on the chin. Since the columns absorb the impact of a collision, the two pressure points on the wearer's chin are not directly impacted. The outer shell does not completely cover the foam member leaving the upper and lower edges of the foam member to extend beyond the edges of the shell.

  • Publication number: 20040119580
Abstract: A vehicle remote keyless entry (RKE) system and a method of controlling the operation of at least one vehicle device using voice commands includes a remote control unit transmitting a control signal and a receiver module mounted to the vehicle for receiving the control signal. The remote control unit includes a microphone for receiving a voice command and a processor connected to the microphone for recognizing the voice command and generating a control signal. The receiver module receives the control signal transmitted from the remote control unit and generates a control signal through a data bus connected to the at least one vehicle device to control the operation of the at least one vehicle device.
